I wanted to send out an email and let you guys know that we recently patched HoN to include a brand new front end interface, match making, a tutorial, optimizations, and quite a bit of polish.

To coincide with this new patch we have also announced the beginning of our Open Beta.  On Wednesday, March 31 @ 4:00 PM PST (-8 GST) we will begin accepting beta registration which require no key.  When Open Beta begins the pre purchase incentives of the Golden Shield, Golden Name, and Taunting (SMACKDOWN!) will no longer be given to accounts.

    I wouldn't go so far as to call LoL better. HoN is where the competitive DotA scene will be. Not trying to say LoL isn't a good game its, just that its the F2P while HoN is the P2P.

    LoL is not F2P, it requires microtransactions in order to have an even playing field, otherwise you play at a disadvantage.

    LoL adds an unnecessary level of complexity to the game with their rune/microtransaction system, HoN does not.

    In HoN, you don't have to worry about some douche bag getting a +% damage rune that's limited edition / very rare that gives them an advantage in game that you can't obtain without purchasing runes in the cash shop. In HoN you don't have to worry about secret heroes you can't even access without spending money in the cash shop either.

    HoN offers free and fair play forever for everyone after a 1 time fee.

    lol ! you probably a noob and dont take time to learn- rune does minor effects into the game ! and really based on how you play your character. its like people saying evelyn suck in t3 roff  most of the time im pwning and i didnt buy any of those micro shit so dont troll game when u cannot learn from your mistake.

    You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

     

    Using the shop you can unlock champions faster, which doesn't change anything since that change the free champion rotation every week. When releasing a new champion he goes in the free rotation a week after.

    You can buy skins which are purely cosmetic.

    You can buy xp and ip boost, but it doesn't change anything cause you will always getting matched up with players around your skill level. You can't buy runes with real life money, you have to play the game to get runes, there are no items or anything that would give you an advantage over somebody who didn't spend money, you're just pulling facts out of your ass.

     

    If anything i think League of Legends is one of the very few free to play games where the item shop doesn't give you any advantage.
