I wonder though. When i last left the game it was because of arrogant players who seemed concerned only with how much better than me they were.
Is there room for creative builds? Is there some kind of speccing rule that you have to follow to find groups if i ever wanted to do that.

There is but now its all about the achievements. Stamina/resilience has taken a slight back seat. You still have the arrogant people and of course Barrens chat and trade channel with the slurs flying.
Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!
It's worse, it's why I recently left the game.. The Devs gave the tools for the immature players to use, and promised them more tools in Cat to play with.. I won't be back
I think i'll give it a shot. It's only money right? Hopefully my account wasn't hacked.
-Would you like cheddar or swiss cheese?
-Yes.

You won't find that the elitism has gone away, if anything it's worse. However, you are right, just spend for a month's sub at least and you can find out if you can deal with it.
Wait till Cat IMO
I want to see a hacker break through blizzard server firewalls(not the hard part), find the authentication files (still not the hard part), and crack the encryption (this is the part that makes this an impossibility). I'm sorry but it is a pet peeve of mine when people say they got hacked. If your account has been compromised, you didn't get hacked, you're just a careless idiot who happened on a keylogger.
Blizzard had a bunch of old, inactive, non BNET migrated accounts, accounts hacked a few weeks ago.
Friend had his account hacked. Hadn't played for a year, didnt have WoW installed, had not been to any WoW website. Not only that he couldnt even remember his password.
It wouldnt matter if he had 2386742384568234574582375428745823452876 key loggers on his computer if he couldnt even remember his user name or password.
And I also heard of numerous other cases of inactive accounts being hacked which means its highly unlikely some hacker brute force a bunch of old accounts. Obviously Blizzard's security for inactive non battle.net accounts was not that good.
So explain that, Blizz fanboi.
