I can't use my Blu Ray disk drive because it says there is a problem with the driver. I tried to update it but I can't because it doesn't show up anywhere. Normally I can find it using My Computer. It was listed as my E: drive. I tried un-connecting and reconnecting the drive physically by opening up my computer but it doesn't work. I have another drive from my old computer I can put in but I'd like to save that as a last resort. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Attempt to place the other drive in the PC to see if the system recognizes the drive on that cable.
If the system does not recognize the drive, then it is the system. If it does recognize the new drive then it is the drive.
Good luck.

right click on My Computer > click Manage to get into the Computer Management window.
right click DVD/CD-ROM Drives > Scan For Hardware changes
might not work, but if you havent tried it already, its worth a try.
If it's only just happened, try using system restore or backup to go back to the most recent point where it was still working. if that doesn't work, use the delete key or whatever your PC uses to enter the BIOS settings when starting the PC and make sure the device is detected there. If it isn't, it may be faulty. You can check all the connecting cables are firmly in place but apart from that it's probably easiest to try it out in another PC if you have one available. That will determine whether the fault is with the device itself or something in your PC.
I was able to get it working by downloading something from the MS site called Mats_Run.dvd. Most likely it was a problem with the drivers. Anyways, everything is gtg now.
