Goddamn it, this is starting to look good. I have a question on roads though; is there an underlying tile grid like Wurm or do roads just texture a certain amount of space at the feet?

No tiles like Wurm, but it seems like you modifiy about the same size as Wurm Online.
But unlike wurm you cant see the tiles and you have to just eye ball it. Im posting a video soon of it, its rendering now.
Seems cumbersome. Simply right-clicking an item on the floor to pick it up/auto move it to a backback would suffice. Or left click and drag.
Thats the thing about little indy developments, they wanna do stuff that people love (sandboxing for example) except they all too often to and reinvent the wheel at the same time.
This is all conjecture of course, but still....
Aye, part of the realism that many of these indie sandboxes try to reach. I am personally more of a guy that likes to consider games as a sort of real-life escapism, but for each their own. I just always wondered how at the same time these games that thrive for realism allow you, e.g., to carry the whole tree within your backpack. Nonetheless, I am not for or against this kind of inventory management for as long as the resource gathering (for which this obviously it the most cumbersome a feature) is not excessive, i.e., you only need, e.g., to chop down one tree to make something out of it.
From the videos, they are all pretty dark (apart from that character creation, obviously) so it is hard to say much from, say, animations. All in all, it looks like they have what they said they would have. It still has beta kinks as illustrated by some of the graphical glitches on character creation but I guess this is the purpose of this gradually progressing release schedual of theirs. Good luck to everyone with Xsyon and the team working with it.
if they are going to go thru the trouble to be that "realistic" then you should have to have some horses or oxen and drag the tree to your town lumbermill
Looks a lot betterthan i thought it would, but is there no life in the world, just players?I saw a dog animation but did not see anything in the actual game.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

In the very beginning for the starting players, yes, it will be a barren land and they will have to build the first towns. Maybe a good community project would be to build a starter town by the spawn in locations.
As for wildlife right now in the videos, the spawns have been disabled pending testing.
The lack of content is definitely intended. Why would they want people to see the content, anyway? I mean, what's the point in showing potential customers what your product contains.

Never thought I'd get to say this about a new game, but even Asheron's Call's pine trees look better then that.
I liked how the tree disappeared then reappeared before falling down too.
Ya reported that as a bug, I hope it gets fixed also.
