Wow do I never post here.
My initial post to this thread was
"I hate MMORPG's. I've never played "old skool UO", I've never played DAoC, EQ, Shadowbane, or any of those crappy MMO's. I've played AO, Lineage II, WoW, and Aion."
I've been watching these boards for years, log on for a few minutes of laughter and to see the latest news. I don't have time to explore other websites so I chose THE most logical choice for an MMORPG forum on google and signed up.
I LOVE when people say "We want a skill based MMO"
Hold on... did you say skill based?!? Wait a second.. aren't to the guy who wiped us on Kara countless times... aren't you the guy who aggroed a million mobs in the Dragon Dungeon??? Aren't you the guy who thought you could fight 2 Cleric Asmos???!?!
Skill based MMO?!?! Don't make me laugh.
There is no such thing as a skill based MMORPG for you sir. You will never be good, latency will never be good, nerds who play countless hours will dominate you, people who search and seek exploits will dominate you. Bugs, glitches, tweaks will dominate you.
"FAG, QUEER, GAY, YOU SUCK, NEWB, TWAT, HOMO" Are the only words you will hear for giving your few minutes of the day to help some raging, snap case of a child/mid teen/or even sadly... an adult.
No... give me a game in space, with any race (fantasy, sci-fi, medieval, western, futuristic). Planets, housing, shops, a player base, customization, countless skills, skill sets, classes, positions, player ruled territories, terrra forming, deadly servers, decent graphics, awesome animations, CUSTOMIZATION (color my armor, color my appearance, I don't care if I have the same +8 Dragons Golding Armor of Destiny.. at least let me make it purple, or blue.. or red) I don't want my face to look like half the other people in this game. Let me adjust to my hearts content.. the technology is out there.
I don't want to macro my skills, I don't want slow travel to any destination. Exploring is only fun if you find a one of a kind landscape TO explore. But I don't also want to have my e-peen guided to my next linear destination.
Give me something good, give me something the hardcore and casuals can interconnect with one another. Give the hardcores their place, let them grief other players (but only to a god damn certain extent, you aren't a god in real life, the sad thing is that you can sit at your computer for more than 9 hours believing you overcome some difficult battle in a virtual pixalated existence).
Grow up. If you are an amazing player at video games inside and out, then good for you. Some are talented that way, while other aren't.
This is going nowhere. MMO's have stalled. The industry has stalled. I'll never blame WoW for it's not the reason.
Developers are girls, companies are girls. The execs are girls.

Lies. There are no girls on the Internets.
Lol.
Bit of an unorthadox way to put your point across, but I think I got the jist of it.
Everything that you mentioned you'd want in a game, the customisation, player housing etc etc. I agree with this, I think that developers need to start adding these things into their games either now in an update or have it ready in the release. I would say that these are the points that stand out for people in an MMO and thus should all be brought to one. That, imo, is the key to success for a new MMO.
