I've been playing RPGs pretty much since they first came out (dating myself there). When they moved to PCs I followed, but I've never tried an MMORPG.
I like games like Morrowind, not much into FPS games, I don't get to play as regularly as I ,ight like, but when I do, I may play for 10+hours.
Any advice for someone starting out in MMORPGs as to a good choice? I don't mind spending money once I am sure I will like it, but I would prefer to get my feet wet first.
Also, can anybody recommend a good FAQ or advice site that might help me not to make a complete fool of myself as I start?
Thanks

If you're new to MMORPGs World of Warcraft is your best choice. You can play for 2 hours and get something done, or play for 10 hours and get a lot done. Also it's not buggy at all, you dont even need to read anything to learn how to play it (there isn't even a tutorial)
Ok well first of I would like to say to Pyralis that WoW does have a tutorial. The first quest is a basic tutorial. And second, saying that WoW is not buggy is lieing to the guy. It does have some bugs so don't expect this flawless game.
But I do agree that you should try WoW first just to get into the swing of things. It is a pretty easy game. Especially if your something like a Warrior or Hunter, they don't have a lot of spells. And I play casually, and my brother plays hardcore, and he is only 6 levels a head of me. So it is a good game to play casually. Honestly though it wont keep you entertained for long. I got it at xmas and I'm already thinking about cancelling my account, waiting for DnL to come, and playing that. Well good luck.

Ah my bad, forgot about the starting quest. And I haven't seen any bugs yet so i'm not lieing to him.
Can i reccomend you learn about DAoC (Dark Age of Camelot).
In this game, there are 3 realms: Ablion, Midguard, and Hibernia
These realms are at war and there are battle grounds to fight in.
If you buy the daoc platinum box and then catacombs, it is going to cost a total of about 40 to 50 dollars. I have been playing this game for about 4 years, I have tried every game that has come out and this one tops them all.
here are some links that you can use to read up on the game, and there is even a free trial to see if you like the game.

www.daoc.catacombs.com

I think you can find the trail eather at their main site www.darkageofcamelot.com or at www.fileplanet.com hope that helps and good luck.
I would say WOW if you dont play very often and want to feel like you accomplishing something. It has your basic fantasy type characters and is easy to lvl by solo or grouping. Read their website and see if it looks like what you want worldofwarcraft.com.
I think DAoC would be good to, alot of classes to choose from, the only problem might be finding low lvl people to group with, not sure I havent played in a while, but if you could get in a guild and make some friends this would be a good one.
WoW is the best way for a MMOG neophyte to get their feet wet in the genre.
