David "Daeke" Bass, formerly the Community Coordinator for Champions Online over at Cryptic Studios has landed himself a new gig as Community Coordinator at Gazillion Entertainment. Of course, Gazillion Entertainment are the folks putting together the new Marvel MMO, so be sure to keep up with David, and maybe you'll hear something!
Hey look! I'm the new Community Coordinator at Gazillion Entertainment! Glad I got that off my chest, finally.

Hurra, he can screw up Marvel's game like they all did with Champions so DC universe becomes the superior superhero mmo!!
wow what a horrible picture, he looks like he's 16, who shovels food in their face when someone goes to take a photo ? not that he is known for his good judgement..

Says the guy named Fartman....
...or maybe he's getting out before the Cryptic ship sinks completely?

Maybe MMO is not your genre, go play Modern Warfare...or something you can be all twitchy...and rank up all night. This is seriously getting tired. -Ranyr

I can't wait to watch him tweet about playing every other game under the sun, but his own game. Least this twitter account is his own and not the companies. Doesn't looks so bad when he does it now.
Heh he's the Community Manager, not a code monkey.
I'm glad he bounced back from being the fallguy for Cryptic's VB fiasco.
I agree. I ribbed the guy a lot over twitter, but I am glad he doesn't work for Cryptic anymore. That company is just screwed up and now he doesn't have to go down with them. I'm sure he's probably glad he's not there anymore either.
must be a slow news day if this kind of thing makes the "front page". Breaking news, Cryptic Studios just ordered Chinese for lunch and Jack Emmert had beef and broccoli.

Well all I got to say is why is one company going to hire him after a total epic fail. Im glad I don't play the other game either.
Being a comunity manager might not be a dev but he interacts betwwen the devs and the public and the suits. That being said he did not do that great of a job.
I couldn't agree more that Cryptic's approach to community management is truly awful.
Being on the outside we can't know where those decisions originate. But I doubt the "community manager" position is much more than a caretaker role, i.e. monitor the forums, deal with regular stuff and report to management on any community issues that need attention.
CO censored their forums, removing threads about microtransactions. They waited two months to make any statements about said microtransactions after we first learned of them via third parties. They outright lied about the nature of said microtransactions - i.e. "they'll only be fluff", but then they delivered wildly unbalanced powers (some completely useless) and then offered retcons as an MT. They've refused to comment on how many subscribers they had. Daeke's post in closing one such thread said developers generally don't release those details. Then a couple of months later they do just that (i.e. reveal subscription numbers), for STO.
Cryptic made a bad game and abused their community into the bargain.
But I doubt this guy is responsible. These kinds of decisions would be made higher up. It would have been Bill Roper or someone above him making these decisions.
