Those of you who are movie buffs probably know that a new version of this movie is coming out soon.  Will it be any good?  Who knows.  The trailer looks good, but I doubt if you can really tell anything by that.

New Trailer

I liked the original for the most part.  Although the special effects were primitive by today's standards.  Still, I'll like it more than the new one if this year's version lacks a good plot.

Wow, what a perfect movie for a remake considering today's CG. I'd never thought about it and I remember liking that movie a lto.

I'll see this just for the eye candy of greek myths brought to life on screen again.

Oh wow. I knew it was a remake, but I didn't know what movie. I used to love that movie when I was a kid. I hope they do it justice on the remake. If they do, it's going to be an instant classic. It looks alot higher budget too, they could have done better special effects back in '81, I mean those are bad compared to the original Star Wars (if you can find an un-remastered version).

Never watched the old one but the new one seems decent... at least with the eye candy.  I kinda like the fact that the trailer doesn't really give away all the action like they did for Superman, and From Paris With Love... kinda annoys me that I've practically seen all the good parts just by watching the previews.

No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-

it might be good as from what i have seen the basic story is the same. But.... i do-not like who they got playing Zeuse. Also i hope this film doesant try to fill too much of the film with over the top C.G.I. as such stuff can make some films tacky.

Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981

That's funny, just last year I told my brother that I thought this movie would be a perfect remake with today's CG.  He told me that they are remaking it.  So that got me kind of interested in the new one and now it's almost here.

I'm not really bothered by the old-style special effects of the original because it was the last movie of Ray Harryhausen, considered the father of special effects in Hollywood.  It's a fitting final tribute.

Since I was young I've been a fan of Greek mythology. From the Hercules series to Xena, from the Odyssey and the search for the golden fleece. I am always fascinated by it. So even if it's a remake I still think it's a very good film to watch. Actually this is really in my to-watch list.

Does anyone else think that the Kraken in the new trailer looks like a cross between the American version of Godzilla (the 1998 movie) and the alien from Alien?  That's kind of what I thought.

Also, what's a Kraken even doing in a movie about Greek mythology?  I thought the Kraken was from Norse mythology.

It is, but apparently nowadays it's the go-to monster when it comes to breaking out the big guns or something...

This should have been posed when the original was created; back in 1981.

It looks as though the movie is responsible for introducing a new phrase into popular culture.

    Release the Kraken!

Will it become as popular as "Houston, we have a problem" and "Show me the Money!"

As far as quotes go, I'm thinking "Calm your storm" will be the new "Cool your jets" hipster phrase.

The movie was quite disappointing though... It's like we're also watching Percy Jackson... The classic Clash is still better than the new one...

Best piece of crap I have seen in awhile. A fun B-movie with some cool effects. I prefer more cleavage in my B-movies, but still was fun.

Finally someone did a decent pegasus. Been waiting my whole life to see that.

I thought it looked like a Rancor with tentacles -- but then I always have Star Wars on the brain.

And yes the kraken is Norse.

This movie totally crapped out.. I can't deny that the graphics was astounding however the movie did'nt have that much epic story line...

OMFG 3D was terrible. Half the movie I had my glasses off because there wasn't any point. Then the parts where I did have it on, just made me sick because it was done so badly. It was freaking converted, not shot in 3D.

Other than that, it wasn't bad. Not as good as the first one, but it was worth watching. Probably the best movie in the theaters right now.... but I haven't seen Hot Tub Time Machine yet. :) DEF NOT WORTH IMAX TICKETS! That's the only thing I'm really pissed about.

I think after Avatar non True 3D films just look cheap and crap.

I think I'm going to stop paying for the 3d movies for the next little while.  All the ones I've seen lately would have been just fine without the annoying glasses.  As it stands now I see no reason to fork over more money for the same movie where only 10-15% is actually 3d.

I thought Zues was fantastic, it's Perseus I didn't like as much as the original. In this one he looks like some lucky fisherman who just falls into a situation who never exudes that godlyness the Original had.

And how they make this movie without Angelina Jolie as Medusa.. well that was just dropping the ball big time, an ok remake but could have lived up to much higher standards.

I mean if it were me I would have changed Gerard Butler ( clean Shaven) over to Perseus, Jolie as Medusa, I mean really duh.

Yeah, well if it comes to life and destroys a town, then we'll be in real trouble.
