This information has been leaked to the Internet from this week's issue of Famitsu. It's about alpha, apparently. Hope you enjoy it!

Area changes between cities and the field are seemless
BGM flows naturally
Private instances will not be interrupted by things happening around you (chat, crowdedness)
The L3 button is the target lock
Everyone can use teleport from the beginning
Warp (like FFXI) sends you back to your home point, which is defaulted to the last Aetherite you used.
There are only male Highlanders.
You can only play as female Miqo’te, but males exist.
There is a difference in starting stats between tribes, but this can be overcome with character growth (?)
Gender has no effect on play
Roegadyn females exist (does not say they are playable)
The difference between tribes isn’t that big
The opening will be real time, not pre-rendered.
Flow of battle:
Select target with directional keys
Draw weapon with R1
Select commends with directional keys
Effect gauge charges
Alpha was made with casual gamers in mind, too, but it may still be difficult
Players will be able to reallocate stats in the final version
They want to make teleport and warp available for all classes, and make it low-cost.
After alpha comes beta 1, then beta 2. PS3 should be playable from beta 2.
Alpha and beta 1 will be mostly the same thing.
Parties cannot be formed unless the other members are close to you when inviting them.
There are five different ranks of guildleve difficulty.
After being defeated in battle, there is a five minute “weakened” state (It may be possible to be revived without a raise spell?)
There are things like attack magic which can be used without MP
Casting while moving is possible
There are MP restoring abilities
HP regenerates pretty quickly in passive mode

5 Min weakness after death lol woot! Thats gonna be a lot o fun =P
Glad to hear little bits of information are coming out more and more.
I'm glad they have atleast a tiny death penalty such as the weakness timer, and I wouldn't mind to hear minor XP loss like in FFXI. To me death stung just right in FFXI to where you don't want that to happen again, but it wasn't something that set you back hours or days....unless of course you died constantly.
One thing I'd like to hear more about is the combat pacing. I wouldn't mind combat that is a little faster then FFXI, but I definitely do not want something as fast as most modern MMO's.
Hopefully it's like in WoW where you get that 10 minute debuff if you choose to rez without going to your corpse. Otherwise it'll suck if there is no way to remove the penalty early.
Once you go go whack, you'll never go back.
What is this "whack", you say? Check out the links!

I'm just waiting for the flood of youtube leaked stuff to come out within the next day or two....
Parties cannot be formed unless the other members are close to you when inviting them...
I dont really care for this myself. I'd like to beable to shoot an invite to someone anywhere. BTW, isnt all this against the NDA they have? Ive seen this thread posted on some other sites and the info has been deleted due to the NDA FFXIV has. (and yeah im looking forward to leaked vids myself heh)
Yea theres going to be a lot of leaked info once alpha starts ><
Technically someone can't break the NDA if they aren't in alpha/beta and haven't accepted the agreement... I know it's spliting hairs but meh x:
Either way its nice to have a little info, SE has always been very stingy with what they give to us.
Mmm. I hope this comes out tomorrow.
Im cool with everyone being able to tele and warp just as long as you have to visit the place before you can do it. It will make parting up with people alot faster. It makes me wonder how many teleport places they will have though. I would hope its not to many of them so that it makes riding Chocobo's pretty much obsolete.
Although some people who played WHM may not like this because you could make some decent money teleporting people. Which was nice for mage classes because it gets pretty damn expensive since you can't sell your spells back once you bet a better ones like you can with weapons and armor.
So far fine with everything that's been said... definately one i want to try, especially on my PS3...
i tried ff11 on PC and Xbox 360, preferred the PC but the the little keyboard for the 360 controller wasn't without it's charm....

Hehe I'm loving the massive leak of info since Alpha started. These famitsu leaks are great, and finally resolve a lot of speculation we've had. There's a more comprehensive coverage of the Famitsu leaks elsewhere as well which explains some of this in much more detail that FFXIVCore managed to.
More than just gameplay footage has been leaked by the looks of it as well. I have to say I think Nobuo Uematsu has outdone himself. Topping Distant Worlds is quite a feat.
Can't understand why they don't want to give an agile beastmen race that is male :S
This was a new game so they changed the race descriptions, how I hate playing as human..........
And no I don't like elvs they are too tall, the galka like race too bulky and the taru like race too small I want a normal looking character and the miqo'te that just by looking at them your first thought would be they must be an agile race plus they are good looking specially the males that show later in the game....
SE have been very careful not to actually rule out male miqo'te or female roegadyn, instead they have dropped hint after hint that they are working on them. This info from famitsu is clearly stated to be what is currently in the alpha and not an actual feature list for the game... they're just observations.
They know just how much the community wants those races, I have little doubt that we'll see them playable. SE are just teasing like usual.
Definitely good to see some kind of death pen, of course it depends on how they handle it but the fact that it's in means they still see it as useful aspect of combat that makes it all that much more exciting.
Vincent Valentine was human (most of the time). You seem to like him a lot. Maybe give human a try and you'll like it
This isn't meant to be a flame at all. Just thought you may appreciate the perspective.
Yeah but he could transform chaos form ftw
And yeah if there was a "class" like that I would try it for sure but my favourite class usually is thief and zidane is cooler when not transformed hehe.
Mithra/Miqo'te resembles zidane's race somehow and I would have loved on using mithra/miqo'te in ffxi and since now ffxiv should be a different game with different race histories they could have made something...
Well hope at least human will have some decent customization I'm not gonna play a female character.
