Seriously..."from the makers of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest"? give me a fucking break.

square-enix may have put out a few games of questionable quality in their time, but nothing this bad.

this game is horrible. it has absolutely NO redeeming qualities whatsoever. i'm not exaggerating when i say that it looks and plays like it was released in 1998.

Well SE isnt the actual developer,  Fenix soft is, SE and gamepot are just the publishers.

Is still a misleading ad. "From the makers of ff" one would think that those who did ff did this game which is not true.

    ...meh...

"From Square Enix The Makers of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest"

Their ad is 100% accurate and is not misleading. Maybe English is not your native language so I wont jump you for not understanding.

Well, most people would see that ad and assume SE developed the game.  A company called Fenix Soft developed the game.  Square Enix simply published the game, but abandoned it and shut it down 6 months after release.  I don't think that's a very good sign.

When it says "From" that automatically implies that SE is the developer, publishers never say from the maker of whatever game they have published. Very misleading ad indeed.

Ive said pretty much the same thing awhile back to when i tried the game. I don't really see how they get away with it, seeing as how SE has no involvement whatsoever in the game now. They were at one time the publisher, but now Gamepot is the publisher. You would think SE would want to go after them for advertising it as being from SE when they cut any ties to the game a long time ago.

The term "From the _____ of _____" is used all the time (especially in movies) and rarely means the exact same people/companies were involved. If you look at the ad and read it as "Oh the FF developers made this game" its your fault for not knowing this is a common advertisement method and that it only means the two projects are associated in some way.

I'm not a big fan of buying/reading/watching something just because there is some name attached to it (I hate books that have the name of the author in larger print than the title) but if the association is really that important to you its up to you, the consumer, to do some research on the product to find out what the association is. If you just assume that all the associations are the same thats your mistake. (SE developed FF/DQ so they must have developed FEZ {just the publisher}. This guy directed Movie A so he must have directed Movie B [really a co-exec producer or some kind of adviser].)

P.S. SE publishes several games that it does not develop themselves. As far as FEZ goes SE owns the rights to the game and they are licensing it to Gamepot so yes SE is still “involved” (read associated) with FEZ.

Just to point out the obvious for those who do not understand the English language that well. "From the maker's of" Does not imply made by in that scenerio it would be "Made/developed by". The game itself was tweaked by SE and it does have qualities that follow FF crystal cronicals.

The game itself isn't that bad, It's got some noticable bugs. But the mixture of PvP and RTS built into a mmorpg is in itself unique. Which makes the game well worth playing, more so after they fix some of the bugs.

It was released in 2006, by the way, so yea...it should feel older...

An interesting title for this post.   You have to trash them for their misleading ads?   Or you simply didn't like the game and are using that as a launching point for your negativity.

There's nothing wrong with not liking the game.   Say so and say why, but don't do it under the pretense of being forced to for an arguable point.
