Theres a ton of Sci Fi fans but very little in the way of commercial Sci Fi games. So If you could have a Sci fi mmorpg what would it be and what gameplay system would you like to see? Like Sandbox, themepark, all that good stuff.

If you could combine SG1 and EVE, I think you might have the perfect game. It would have to be a sandbox, but with all the interconnecting gates, like EVE, an SG1 game could really work. Some planets could be peaceful, some unknown, and some FFA, and you would always have a home base at the SGC. This has nothing to do with the now defunct SG1 game, I just think the two ideas go together really well.
This is a little more "on-topic" but I was just thinking about this yesterday while playing Just Cause 2. Mass Effect is great and everything but I really can't wait for someone to come out with Sci-Fi space-based GTA/Crackdown/Just Cause type game. Of course this led me to wanting a really good Space-based MMOG being that I am an online gamer. Honestly I'll take what I can get, but I don't really want a Sci-Fi MMORPG. I think the MMOs of the future will be a good mix of FPS and whatever you would call GTA-type games(not really action and not really platformers).
As far as setting/plot/characters I would prefer something more Firefly/Farscape than Battlestar/Stargate. Obviously a crew of criminals or misfits in their own personal ship with countless worlds of different species or technologies makes for a better multiplayer game than something like Stargate, Star Trek, or Battlestar where it is more military based.
As far as gameplay mechanics I would really like a Sci-Fi game where the ship or planet is not just its own instance and I could take a spacewalk or fly a shuttle back and forth from my ship in orbit down to the planet surface below without any load screens.
Hopefully we will start seeing some fairly good games, and I guess the PC/console tech needed to allow for this, within the next five years. Maybe in less than 10 we'll get a MMO as mainstream as WoW.
It would be great if humanity would live as in Mass Effect. The lore and the ability to travel between planets are fabulous.
PS: That's more, we could choose between human women, asari or quarians
That would be F****** awsome Ekibiogami, next question tho is what race will i play.....
Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981
An MMO based on the Mass Effect universe would be awesome. Ditto one for Halo -- basing an MMO off an FPS might sound weird, but there's enough backstory to create a persistent world.

I would choose avatar! LOL!!!
Warhammer 40K... and not one thats been butchered by Mythic. It has to be dark and gritty the way Warhammer is meant to be. Hell it would be what WAR should have been like but 40k instead.
O_o o_O

Supposed to launch in 2012...oh Gawd i wants it bad
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.
Oh God... I love them all... Damnit

That's an easy one for me...
Dune.
I would be the perfect multi planet (land) game and could support a fantastic space game. Many races to choose from that could be part of the game and tons of options in terms of a time scale/line you could select from to make an ideal mmo experience.
In my oppinion, besides Wolrd of Darkness, there isn't many IP's out there still left that would carry the posibilities that Dune has.
