heh join the club. i've spent over 24 hours trying to get this damn patch on a 3meg cable connection, and after it reaches 42%, it fails to connect to server and stops. every single time. if ANYONE in here has the most recent patch, contact me, as I'll give you the file names that you need to make copies of. I'll hook you up with a 150mb file sharing website for all of us to be able to get them.

Ok, this is NOT a bump just to let you all know. I've spent hours trying to figure out what the problem is to no avail. If ANYONE has successfully download the patch needed, please, post in this thread, so we know that it's not a code problem, that it's just a server problem.

(edit-Patch server is now UP! Patch away)

Dammit, my work PC isn't loading the page.  Is Yu-Gi-Oh Online gonna be the card game except online?  Kinda like what they did with Magic: The Gathering Online that failed miserably?  Or is gonna be a real RPG style?

Personally I always prefered Pokemon.  Not the cartoon or the card game, but the original Gameboy RPGs!  That's what we need... Pokemon Online!  But not an online card game, an actual MMORPG where you can trade Pokemons with one another, do battles, socialize, advance in skills, etc.

Maybe we'll see something of the genre with the Nintendo DS!  Oh god I would so love a WiFi Pokemon game. But not use the WiFi just to trade.

It's not like an RPG, it's the straight card game, but the mechanics of playing online are nothing like MTG:Online. With MTG online, you had to buy your own packs and event tickets for tournements and such. That's not the case with yu-gi-oh. Every game you play you get your choice of 1 of 2 hidden, random cards. Personally, I've played 6 games, and gotten 1 of the rarest cards already. So if you're worried that they'll try to fleece you like WotC did with MTG, you've got nothing to worry about.

As your number of duels increases you get more packs to choose from. At 61 duels you get to choose from 3 packs instead of 2. It gets higher but I can't remember the exactly by how much for each additional pack.

I'm just trying to duplicate the deck I have with my real cards. It will probably take me a month or so, lol. I kinda like Yu-Gi-Oh! Online. You meet some good people on there and I have had some awesome duels. I thought most of the people on there would be little kids but I've met people ranging from 20-42yrs old. I've had my butt handed to me by a couple 10-13yr olds too but those monkeys probably live and breath Yu-Gi-Oh, lol. Either way, I have been having a lot of fun. I recommend this to anyone who is a fan and even those who aren't. So come get your butt kicked by me if you dare, hit me up on Hypnotiq.

Only those that enjoy Life live it.

God, please tell me whatever happened to Monster Rancher? It had the potential to know all the posers out of the game. Pokemon was good till after the second season cartoon in which all after that sucked. Way to focused on caring and love and then the bring them to the games! WTF!

Here is the URL to download from the Japanese website: Yu-Gi-Oh! Online

The client is in multiple languages, you just choose it from the options menu. There was a patch today so I'm not sure if this file has been updated.

I've played it for about 4 hours straight. It gets a bit laggy at time, but over all. I like it. The way chatting works could use some help though. Currently at like a 57% win ratio ::::15::

Dunno why everyone thinks that Yu-Gi-Oh is only for little kids...well maybe the anime. I stopped watching it after they defeated Pegasus and even before that it was really cheesy.

The card game, on the other hand, has a lot of depth to it. It's not as complicated and ornate as Magic: The Gathering but it's good fast fun. Get two players together and the game can get pretty intense; the next draw can either mean your victory or defeat. Literally. I've played games where I was at 800 life and I killed someone with 9000 life thanks to ONE card that I drew.

The game does need some work though, so far the basic mechanics are set up pretty well but they need to work on the chat interface and match finder. Why doesn't it list all the open games on the first few pages? Why does the game run like it was meant for a TV resolution? And why in the world is words like 'goo, loo, and kill' censored? I can't even say good game because it turns into ***d game and kill my monster turns into **** my monster. I keep thinking opponents are telling me 'F*** my monster' thanks to the censoring.

I stopped playing a while ago, opponents are either too easy or too daunting. My record when I quit was about 100+ wins, 27 losses. Most of the losses were due to my opponent's severe card advantage or a horrible hand (I lost a match once when I didn't draw a SINGLE monster...and half my deck is monsters, 40 cards). Very few games I've lost to players who were equal to me, and mostly it was due to my mistake that I realized too late after I made it (they need a 'take back move' feature or something). They also need to implement such things as hand shuffling and having the wait timer come up every time instead of when you only have certain cards set. It got to the point where I could predict with reasonable accuracy whether it was a waboku/mystical/call set, and trap holes are so easy to tell, along with magic jammer.

In any case...I suppose I did make myself sound like a really good player...but my best friend is #1 in Hawaii (and #2 in regional I think) so I'm pretty decent.

I watch Yu-Gi-Oh and it's a very good anime. Pokemon cartoon has droped to the bottom of my foot becuase I know it hasn't changed one bit. Overall I say Monster Rancher is the greatest. I don't know how Yu-Gi-Oh are played but I watched alot of esipsodes that I could get adapted. I might try it out.

I agree that they really need to work on the chat interface. It is hard to to watch the chat as it scrolls by too fast and it is so small. The filter is way too strong as you mentioned also. In the recent patch they put in filters so you could sort the games. It is much easier to find open matches now. The problem with the filters is now when you use the filter the player list on the right changes as well. So now if you are trying to do a trade you don't know which page you are on.

Yeah it seems these TCG's are 10% player skill, 10% deck creation, and 80% luck of the draw
::::34:: I also noticed the same thing with the traps. It is just too easy to tell what they have layed out for you judging by the delays as they are prompted to use the traps/spells.

you've got to be kidding me. why would anyone want to make an online version of yu-gi-oh!. ok, the card game was fun for a while but you have to be pretty ::::12:: to spend several hours staring at a screen with nothing but yu-gi-oh cards.

but I gues it will keep all those yu-gi-oh fans out of the good games like wow and eq2. so I can finnaly have some peace on my server.
