I would come back if the world was relevant again.  Make each and every dungeon also a lvl 85 heroic with appropriate gear.  Bring back open world bosses and raids.  Make open-world PvP relevant again.  Add a new class or two.  Doesn't seem Cata is going to do any of that, but I'll probably try it anyway for a while.

I've been saying for over a year .. lol  I'm done with the dungeon/raid grind.. I have played all 10 classes.. Give me something new and substantial.. CLASSES, PROFS, QUESTING or meaningful PvP when I'm in the mood..  raising the bar 5 levels and asking me to grind raids again is BS..  I refuse to chase that carrot one more expansion..

I wish they added a new class too, but the problem is the classes we already have are imbalanced, another class is only going to add to the problem, Blizzard is well aware of this. I think they want to test the new dramatic changes they will make to the classes first and see how that goes. They have tried for years to add balance for both pve and pvp, but the changes they keep making for the sake of pvp keep screwing all the classes over, and it doesn't help the game was originally designed as pve only. Hopefully they can redeem this mess with Catalysm.

I just want to add that the so called imbalance of classes is pure bull shit. Certainly with the tools of Arena.

First in an mmorpg you'll always have a difference in classes. But as it is in Arena every class is represented in the absolute top of 3vs3 or 5vs5. Which is NOT an easy feat to do.

Secondly this time around you see very little whining of the classes as everyone agrees Blizzard made them quite balanced from different angles and they did a near impossible job to make them interesting in most 3 way build up (so we talk 30 classes really).

The old (dead horse) of pve and pvp is already burried many moons ago and was even perfected with the 2 months old patch of higher resilience.

As a matter of fact WOW is the ONLY mmorpg represented on ESPN and respected for having even an out of the game  - big money - championship with free to choose gear.

I have it with these kind of arguments coming from people who don't have a clue about PvP arena play.

Want a real mmorpg? Play WOW with experience turned off mode and be Pve_Pvp King at any level without a rat race.

    No thanks.

I've outgrown many of the features WoW offers.

I'm not into Farming gear just to farm more gear just for all my gear to be reset to nothing in a year or two.

    GL with that.

Other then revamping old world raids and new raids to be more player friends and social.. As we touched on, some of us would of liked new classes and profs, and quest and PvP action..  I wanted to toss out some ideas:

    New Classes:

    1. Martial Artist Monk - Cloth wearing DPS with abilities to dodge, parry and stuns.. Think Bruce Lee or Jet Li :)

    2. Spell Casting Tank - Chain wearing battle mage that uses spells to shield, taunt, stun and low dps..

    3. Soul Healer - Leather wearing caster that used his mana along with tapping the life out of the target to heal party members.??

New Prof:  WOODWORKING.. geeesh.. this has been asked for repeatively and I'm surprised it never made it to the game.

New Quest: minimiz dungeon/raid content and go back to OPEN world events and questing.. MORE ZONES

New PvP action:  Forget about 3v3 arena.. focus more on open world PvP like Wintergrasp or Halaa.. Minimize the BG's.. Too many = too thin to populate them..  Even alternate them from month to month if you have to.. IMO if we concentrate more on larger PvP events, class balance will be less of an issue.. and more will get involved..

I just don't understand the push to make WoW an Esport..  rather it's the PvP arena or the "my guild is better then your guild" drama.. If this is the new format that Blizzard plans to take to their next MMO, I won't be going there either..

Don't care what they want. Been there, done that and nothing changed to the positive: guild and former friends are long gone, Ghostcrawler and Chilton still at the lead and Activision putting its greedy fingers deeper into Blizzard so theres absolutely no way back.

They won't bring the classic Wow back heck they'll gimp the classic word with Cataclysm.

I don't hate the game, I hate 95 % of the community it brought to the game and i hate the fact that MMO's are created to this "community" nowadays. Wow brought in non MMO-gamers and now we have to deal with them which kind of sucks. I also heavily despise the market - every and their mother is jumping on the "lets take a wow feature" bandwagon and therefore dumping down good games!

We need a MMORPG Cataclysm asap, finish the dark age of MMORPGS now!

"Everything you're bitching about is wrong. People don't have the time to invest in corpse runs, impossible zones, or long winded quests. Sometimes, they just want to pop on and play."
"Then maybe MMORPGs aren't for you."

Well does it matter? Blizzard has always been the enemy of loners and now makes groupies difficult at the very least...

I've quit and came back more times than I can count, gotten rid of 3 accounts in the process. Just returned last week with my wife, leveling a few characters with the 300% XP boost from Recruit-a-Friend.

The thing I absolutely cannot stand right now is the new LFG Tool/Random Dungeon. I've never felt like I was playing a lobby game so much before. And the fact that since all the instances were nerfed months ago all it is now from 1-80 (and beyond) is a massive race-to-zergfest. Oh well.

The content in the expansion actually looks somewhat interesting to me, so I think I'm going to stick around until then and ride it out. There's just not many alternatives right now (or ones our PCs can handle) and my wife prefers WOW over most of the market anyways.

It seems the game objective is centered all on reaching the max level as fast as humanly possible and maxing your character with the biggest baddest gear that one million other gamers are wearing. All Classic content and BC content has become obsolete so I don’t enjoy leveling or farming for hours all for the sake of a retarded leveling system. Vets should be defined by their battles, not giving mulch to some Orc in Thunder bluff. A Vet should level by their achievements, not the easy ass quests granting bookoo points for doing hardly anything to deserve it. Gear should be crafted or very rarely dropped by hard bosses, not in every dungeon/raid/whatnot. Gear should be customizable, not a premade piece of crap that looks like three hundred other weapons or armor. WoW had its day, but the whole system needs a major update or a re-launch. A lot of the old veterans have left the game since its luster is long gone thanks to it being overrun by know-it-all newbies or the remaining smartass veterans. I’ve yet to see a good contender except a select few with the same people problem it seems all good potiential MMOGs have. I’m hoping someone would release an MMOG that quite simply made more sense. Collecting flowers, spider eyeballs, and etc... for wartime experience… come-on… WTF?!

Sometimes the truth hurts more than believing the lie.

Edit - decided not to erase this. just saw the post on the wow forums. well done mmorpg.com. my faith in you as increased by 10 points =) I still dont get the reason why you dont allow it, but at least now you're consistent.

Woah. Where did you read this? This intrigues me greatly. Blizz buys out competition?

That is exactly right, and we're not saying NO to save WoW, because it is already a lost cause. We are saying NO to dissuade the next group of greedy suits who decide to emulate Blizzard and Cryptic, etc.
We can prevent some of the future games from spewing this crap, but the sooner we start saying no, the better the results will be.
So - Stand up, pull up your pants, and walk away.

I won't be back for Cataclysm because I'm burned out on WoW.  I havn't played for the last 8 months, but there is nothing that Blizzard can do to make WoW "new" or "fresh" for me.  It will look the the same, it will play the same.  I'm not talking about new zones, abilities or races.  The "style" of the game and the feeling I get from playing my characters will essentially be the same.

The only thing I need to know is whether or not i'm actually having fun playing.  I wasn't. so I left.  I think a lot more people will try Cataclysm only to have the novelty wear off really soon after release.

Yes, I think you're right on this. I quit two weeks ago after five years (with a couple several-month long breaks mixed in) when I realized I was paying $15 a month for a chat service....all I was doing anymore was logging in to say hi to people and stand around in the game while doing house chores, reading books and playing other games. Ah, the irony.

I'm also one of those casual players. So casual I've been in a raid group maybe twice in five years. I've never seen ICC and I never will....I've watched my wife in there and it looks much more stressful than fun.

I'll resub to Catcalysm when it comes out, to see what they tweak and change, but I anticipate being with the game for only a couple months; no matter what they have promised, I doubt they will change the game in any meaningful way....like you said, it's not a question of new content/quests/raids/what-not, it's the fact that the game's fundamental structure is now old and familiar....too familiar to be enjoyable anymore, unfortunately.

I would come back for more pvp. I mean real pvp. Not some Instanced pvp like battle ground and Arena(I can take care of those by playing battlefield bad company 2) I want a fucking world pvp damn it. Thats all i ask. More world pvp objectif. Controling area's for more rewards. Penality should be in when we get kill by a player. We should gain rewards by killing players.

So the reason why i left wow, lack of world pvp. I dont want some E-sport pvp system, i want a real world pvp.

OMG, this is worst then i thought. I left wow after 5 months of play when WOTLK didnt exist. Thank god, i did the right choice. I currently play Age of conan and even if they got load of instance, AOC seem more like a world then wow because random encounters do happen. Finding a group to do dungeon is more immersive. Getting grouped up is more immersive. On the RP part, AOC win. IT win specially on world pvp.

Currently, im playing mortal online and i enjoy it even if there are some beta flaws.
