The fight against the Borg continues in Star Trek Online's latest Special Task Force "Khitomer Accord," which is now available.
Below is a brief description of the new Special Task Force:
You cut your teeth during the Borg invasion of the Vega system. ... Or did you?
The Borg seemed unusually weak, unable to adapt and most of their fleet was already seriously damaged. It seems like someone may have got to them first and softened them up, because if the Borg were at full strength that day, you may not have fared so well.
More questions are being raised as Starfleet intelligence and the Klingon Defense Force have both detected a controlled emission of a massive quantity of chronometric particles in the Vega system. The last time a surge like that was detected, the Borg opened a temporal vortex and attempted to change the history of Earth.
Travel to Vega to investigate exactly what the Borg are up to, neutralize the temporal anomaly and prevent history from changing forever!
The new STF offers new purple rarity loot in the form of "Mark X" gear. For additional details on "Khitomer Accord" go here.
Comments
Still waiting for the mega Klingon gameplay and bug fix patch.
I guess this story being on the site for over an hour before it received one comment is just further proof that this travesty of a MMO is falling fast.
From my understanding of STO (I've not played it), all their end-game content is group/raid content? And is this the only way to get the uber loot?
I vaguely remember reading something from one of the devs before the game went live that that's how their end-game was to work, and it was the final selling point for me not to play.
So was that extra months sub worth the wait for this raid that is the starter quest reskinned?
I have a question for STO players and CO as well.
Crytic seem to focus all their energies on STO, have they completely abandoned CO and their players?
Not at all I play both and Cryptic is rolling out a lot of decent content with Co as well, the latest being Revelation which adds a new City Vibora bay. Honestly there are many times I truly wish STO had as much content as CO.
Obviously you are talking out of your ear here dude….actually play the STF before spewing nonsense
There are plenty of reasons to criticize STO, or not like it. Your comment shows no knowledge of the game, the task force, or any regard for an accurate assessment.
The Task Force has almost nothing related to the tutorial. The story of the task force explains the tutorial but the two couldn't be further apart in content.
The Khitomer Accords is a fun, challenging 5-man mission. It has a good story. It's not easy sauce. While it's not as hard as the other task forces in some respect, they already plan to beef up the difficulty.
Unfortunately no matter what Cryptic does they always lose.
Stick a fork in it Jim it is dead.
Vibora Bay Revelation was a nice addition, I like the story, new villains groups and the tier 4 powers. Not sure about STO, I didn't buy it but I guessing that making content for STO is more difficult that doing that for CO.
I'm not a fan either, but this is an ignorant statement, STO despite having major issues has a very dedicted fanbase that is determined to stick with the game, it also has a shit ton of SW:TOR fans who have never even played the game yet love to bash it. STO is going to be around and be profitable for Cryptic for quite some time.
This sword here at my side dont act the way it should
Keeps calling me its master, but I feel like its slave
Hauling me faster and faster to an early, early grave
And it howls! it howls like hell!
I will let my statement stand thank you very much.
Actually CO is getting fantastic support right now. Revelations was the most recent update that went live, the next one coming up is a huge balancing pass on the powers. The level of in-depth communication between the developers and the players is like a small indy game during early beta: they are listening to everything we say, they are making dozens of changes per week based directly on player feedback.
I am the type of guy, I don't like to waste time posting suggestions that no one reads. But Cryptic not only reads the suggestions, they blow my mind by putting a lot of it directly into the game. I honestly feel like I am having some input in the development of a multi-million dollar MMO, it is an outrageous opportunity as a player to get the exact game I have always wanted.
I am talking about things like "wouldn't it be cool if power X did less damage, but also did this status effect?" And then a dev says "yeah that is pretty cool" and then it gets put in the game a week later!? WTF, that is way too good to be real! Part of the reason it works is that the community is so small, and we mostly agree about what changes are needed.
I mean, not everything is rosy, working with the devs to balance this game is hard work and it won't happen over night. Obviously somethings we ask for can't happen. But the fact that they are actually listening to us is too good of an opportunity to pass up.
Edit: just to give some objective measure, there have been over 500 forums posts from the CO team in the last two weeks. A lot of these are just jokes, or repeat statements, but hundreds of them are real deal back and forth communication about changes that the players want.
Cryptic is trying a Customer Development approach to MMO creation.
Never mind that your statement is ignorant and has no basis in fact
"this game is so fun it is too fun for me!" ....."Its only the really funny people who would pay $15 per month per mission!" ..
Yea ... cut your teeth on that!
This game is broken ..check the faults again ...everytime they launch a STF ...! ... oh what about the second faction ...THATS NOT FINISHED.. YET!
I can't imagine how people can still be playing this game.... its realy shallow .... Oh ..hangon ...its the under 12's thats still playing it ... Dam missed that one!
Edit .. my mistake ... You get TWO extra mission per .. $15 paid .... Oh so worth it ...even if you can finish it in 3 hours!
