Global Agenda: Sandstorm Interview

StraddenStradden Managing EditorMember CommonPosts: 6,696

MMORPG.com's Bill Murphy recently spoke with Global Agenda Executive Producer Todd Harris about the upcoming Sandstorm expansion that will make some significant changes to the game.

MMORPG.com:

Global Agenda is going into its 3rd month of official release, and already you've put out two sizeable updates to the game. How about we start by talking a bit about the changes that have been made to the game since Open Beta, for those who haven't been following Global Agenda since launch?

Todd Harris:

Sure. I think we've been as busy post-launch as we were pre-launch. Some studios ramp down post-release. But strong sales have allowed us to keep our entire studio focused on enhancing Global Agenda, and we're actually continuing to add new developers.

With that team in place, we've been able to introduce 2 major updates in 2 months. Those updates introduced new PvP and AvA (Agency vs. Agency) game-types, seven new playable maps, runtime performance enhancements as well as a bunch of features. Just last week we introduced a Trial version of the game for those who want to sample it to level 15 for free.

And next on our plate is our first real major expansion called Sandstorm.

Read the Sandstorm Interview.

Thank you for that interview. Playing GA since beta and really love that new content that 1.3 will bring to us. I am 100% PvE player and Open Zones and 10'mans missions will be awsome. ;)

I really like Hi-Rez studios. They create content based on the customers opinion. 1.3 is going to be amazing.

I am playing the trial and I think its been pretty fun.

High-Rez... keep being alive. Hopefully you will get the word of mouth you deserve for GA to be a success.

This is much better than crimecraft and the likes. thats for sure.

I'm definitely subscribing. Currently the only problem with GA is a slight lack of population ... 1.3 should get 'em all back :D

is the trial only available through steam? It doesn't seem to want to work right now.

Waiting for this patch to go live before I start playing again. As a primarily PvE player, I have pretty high hopes for it.

I am a big supporter of GA, and and a fan of HiRez, but Sandstorm seems to be adding grind and hurting the competitive nature of the game by getting into an area where lvl 50 agents with the best gear are required for competitive pvp.

I'll give it a shot and will likely sub, but if I am forced to gear grind / craft to be competitive in pvp then I won't stay long.

The new 'gear' will not be any stronger than the current upgrades, IIRC. It's just a change of system.

Would love to see a source on this :x, would be fantastic news if it was sooner than later. So bored with current MMOs

-mumbles something about visiting their studio, playing the game, and telling them that they wouldn't be able to justify a subscription without an open world of some sort...-

Anyways besides that, hi-rez really loves its players and pays attention to them. Glad to see they're finally coming around and still afloat. They were unbelievably involved in both the alpha and beta development of the game and I see that launch is no different. Its nice to see a company that isn't interesting in grabbing box sales and darting to the next project.

If this game goes Open World, I definitely will buy this game and try it.

Now I hope the open world aspect will get rich just similar to Planetside.

We could wish, but this is no where near the scale of PSs fights, there are no bases, and characters are more locked into roles. but at the sametime no one really has any idea what they have in store. They could make bases, vehicles, and increase the amount of people in a zone even more. This is quite a treat considering originally they said the engine wouldn't allow them to do this sort of thing. If they keep pushing and working with the system who knows what could happen. Hirez really seems to value its consumer input...a bit slow, but still faster than any other mmo company as people in alpha/beta were claiming that the instanced gameplay as such wouldn't be able to justify a subscription but they eventually came around. I plan to finally purchase the game once I see them come through on this after testing it for more than a year ><

They already let it slip on the boards  they plan to add  vehicles and increase the amount of people for open zones there working on.   As well as the agency base houseing but they keep what they work on down to a few things at a time so It works the 1st time.

They already have vehicles in the game, albeit single person hovercars and mech suits. Id love to see some proper multiple person buggies and stuff, perhaps like the ones that are in halo and borderlands.

HiRez studios is doing a pretty damn good job. As long as they can get the engine to do what they want, they can technically do anything/everything customers are looking for down the road.

I tried the trial this last week and it is a pretty fun game. Definitely think I will sub once the new content is out.
