I was thinking about purchasing a laptop for when I'm out and about. Not really looking for an expensive desktop replacement or anything, just something with shaders and will run most games (nothing like Age of Conan, but that wouldn't hurt lol). I've never had a computer with ATI or AMD, so I'm not too sure what the specs are, but if anyone could help me, I'd like to know what these specs equal to in the Nvidia GPU and Intel CPU.
and I won't be using the Windows 7 home premium it comes with. I was hoping it would run my Windows 7 Ultimate I have on my desktop (i got an unlimited liscense with it)

I got a laptop with the 3200hd from school and i'm able to play WoW on medium and such, Most demanding game i've played on it was modern warefare 2 on low resolution and settings but still above avarage FPS, Would never get a laptop for gaming with that graphics card tho, Just save money another month and get something decent.

Probably around the range of a 8200GS. In other words, it's a very low end card that's best used for video playback and the like though you can do a little gaming on it just nothing extreme.
Bought that same exact laptop for my girlfriend about a month back.
Video playback is a bit hampered due to the CPU (single core) and gaming is pretty much 'meh'.
Pretty much that laptop is great for watching video (just not in full screen) and web surfing/dvd playback.
There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
There is no Intel or nVidia equivalent of this laptop below $600. Its price range and clock make this a competitor for the atom. However, the AMD Athlon is more effecient per clock then an atom. This processor would be more equivalent of a 2.4 ghz Intel Atom which don't exist. The GPU is equivalent to a nVidia 9300/9400. There are a few Intel's paired with the 9300/9400, however they are held back by the processor and price. Intel Atom, nVidia 9400 netbooks usually run around $500.
As far as a netbook this doesn't meet the guideline due to power draw and screen resolution. For Laptops below $400, this is a mind blowingly awesome offer. As far as a good comparison on where it stands. A top range desktop from 2005 would have had similar parts, so you should expect this netbook to perform at that range.

A pretty good site that compares laptop GPUs and even tells what they compare to.
I agree, it's a great deal if he's looking for a decent budget laptop for school work and web surfing.
Good info on notebook gpu's in the link. The HD 3200 is #167 on the list.
