@kootenay revealed some info today in Mortal IRC, an update on the current "build merger" progress. Here is the log from this post:...
<[Myrm]Achilles> so the devs are gone for good right?
<[Myrm]Achilles> cuz they've basically just disappeared imo
<[Myrm]Achilles> how long has it been since their announcement of new code integration?
<@kootenay> Achilles it takes time
<[Myrm]Achilles> during this process do they just ignore the rest of the game completely?
<@kootenay> Give it some time, Tindrem was't coded in a day
<[Myrm]Achilles> lol
<@kootenay> Well just so you know, the last merge was about a month long
<[Myrm]Achilles> the last merge?
<[Myrm]Achilles> there are "multiple" mergers?
<@kootenay> which included, merging the build, and testing the game, and correcting the code
<@kootenay> Which they finished the merging of the build 13 days ago
<@kootenay> and are currently working on testing, and going through the code
<@kootenay> Yes Achilles, there were a couple a merges with the builds
<[Myrm]Achilles> i dont remember a merge last month
<@kootenay> well with SV's build of the engine with a updated engine build from EPIC games
<@kootenay> that was because the last merge to my knowledge was between Combat beta, and the start of close beta
Thank-you, Achilles. ;P Been trying to get one of them to talk about it for awhile.

"Ok it seems like I have to make some things a bit more clear from my statement which it seems some people takes as far as they want in own conclusions so here comes some info to fill in some gaps.
This merge does not mean we are scrapping our old network solution from epic china and rebuilding it from scratch, that would indeed take more than 1 month to do. Same thing goes with UE3.
What we are doing is, merging on our own at the moment, which looks to be finished after today actually, a bit faster than we expected. We have now upgraded UE3.5x to UE3.5xx. We have also upgraded our network solution from 1.0 to 1.21 with a major important change in the network structure which we need to be able to get rid of our desync problem. Epic Games china have been working on this major change for some time now and they just delivered that to us 1 week ago. With our programmers working on 2 teams one team on day and one on night, giving us an overlapping 30 hours a day since we started 2 weeks ago which helped us getting this updates on track a lot faster than expected same goes for UE update.
With the merge in place we now need to go through all our content and features to test run them before we want to test them live on our beta server.
We send some of our programmers to the US because the leads and half of the team from Epic Games China are located in US. We work better with the American people both language wise and because they are the leads and main programmers for the network structure which means we will be able to work directly with the people that knows how to make the network structure to run best for MO. We will also be able to test live with the network team which will easily troubleshoot on location with our codes instead of distance troubleshoot with us in diff time zones which means delays and so on.
I hope this made it a bit more clearly for you all."
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"

First. this is not a update at all. or anything close
in fact you can read about it here:
http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/39574-release-update-mortal-online.html
Allso this is quite common knowledge and the whole thing have been explained even to this person several times.
Kootnay aint a dev, his just saying what the devs been saying for weeks now!
Nobody said Kootenay was a developer. He's an IRC mod/op.
The update part is that it gives us a specific number of days since a certain task was completed, paired with an estimate on how long the similar overall procedure took last time.
As i replied to you elsewhere, all this info has allready been said, explained etc. on irc by the devs them self
That's why you quote IRC logs... for people who aren't in IRC.
Hi and welcome to MMORPG.COM! Always good to see some new people stop by and share their news and views!
Anyhow.. just take ANYTHING from Kootenay with a large grain of salt. This mod was bragging about how groundbreaking it was for SV to be sending out a beta product on DVD to the customers back when the first MO Boxed Game shitstorm was hitting. It was kind of humorous when folks started linking photos of their UO beta CDs from 13 years prior...
Anyhow... my point is simply that he isn't the strongest source of info.
On a similar note though... they better get a build published to the testers pretty soon or they will be missing April as well. 2 weeks to go and nothing new has been tested yet.
All time classic MY NEW FAVORITE POST! (Keep laying those bricks)
