This week’s Community Spotlight focuses on the thread “What grind did you actually enjoy the most? And why?” by elocke. Of course, you have to accept the basic premise that a grind can be enjoyable at all, here. Elocke himself enjoyed FFXI’s grind the most, read below for more:
“We've heard it stated over and over through various people and forums, that MMORPGs ALL have a grind of some type. My question is this. Which grind did you actually ENJOY the most? Was it Lord of the Rings, WoW, Aion, Lineage 2, EQ1, or one of the many others? And why did you enjoy it?
Personally, as much as I kick myself for not playing this game still(mostly due to other games grabbing my attention and the control scheme being a hassle) FFXI is probaby my most favorite game that has a ton of grind to it. Something about knocking out those levels in a sweet party, skillchaining through them, etc. Still gives me good memories.”

Perfect World Entertainment as a medium leveled red named character was my favorite grind of all time.
Nothing breaks up the boredom of a grind quite like being a fugitive from the law. Knowing that there were players out there that I in no way could stand up against and had no chioce but to run from. It wasn't enough being a squishy cleric and having to watch out for getting wiped by mobs from 5 seconds of error. I had to constantly keep track of dots on my radar and check the names of incoming foes. The only way to escape an overpowered bounty hunter being pre-emptive action.
The interaction with players my own level sealed the deal as my favorite grind. Many would fear coming to close and often leave the better spawns to me. My dark red name was proof that many had fallen by my hand before and most weren't interested in adding to my list of kills.
Yet others would take the road less traveled and seek to ally with me on the grind area in the hopes that I could offer protection through numbers and experience against other pkers seeking to get the drop on them. This made things interesting when a high leveled bounty hunter would drop in to take me out and soon find all the white named Do-gooders in the surrounding area pouncing on them in order to protect the grind squad I had organized.
Overall good times indeed.

Star Wars Galaxies, Lineage II, EVE, FFXI, and the original Everquest. Most of the recent releases have bored me to tears or just lacked too many elements I find fun to keep me playing.
None, grinding is awful.
Everquest online adventures (EQOA). Banditcamps, Mad man and the last few lvls.
I actualy love a good grind, when there is not to much downtime, mobs are challenging and also enjoy killing groups of mobs. Problem is most grinds are to short and you got to pick up another or same quest (takes me out of my rhythm). I realy don't like collection quest grinds tho. I rather have a lengthy kill 40 of this 60 of that + a few bosses grind with a fun group of friends.
Playing: TESO (great!)

Anything and everything can be labeled as "grind" especially if you don't find that particular aspect fun.
Every game has grind it's just whether or not you find it entertaining in the form it's offered.
SWG, Grauls on Dantooine
Simply put..any grind not in an open PK area. For me the two don't mix. Grinding can be pretty mindnumbing and I prefer not to be awakend til i'm done with it
I enjoyed "grinding" doggebis (ies?) on the beach in Kalonline. Sometimes just killing mobs over and over, so long as there is some aspect which is interesting (in this case the unusual look of the mob, trying to avoid sins - pk - and the challenge of mobs which were a couple of levels too high) I sometimes enjoy slipping into the groove of a grind (if you know what I mean ^^).
