Bah... Seriously... WoW is getting to tedious to lame. Blizzards over confidence in their game makes the gameplay unacceptable and frustrating. Im as good as done, as when my current subscription runs out(but I wont go complain about it, with all the flaming battle.net kiddies)!
Still - EQ2 looks cool - PvP is just the only thing holding me back!
Will they ever do an Arena/Duel kind of feature?
Thank you.

Personally I hope they take their time. As some have pointed out in earlier treads, there is buildings both cities that just scream "This is an arena (temp closed)". Also the "good/evil" setting that would lend itself to realm pvp.
On the other hand, enabling pvp would open the profession balance. Level balancing. Faction balancing. And faction balancing across 30-40 servers is plain impossible, so there will need to be a pretty clever mechanism in place to not make it frustrating. Or stability when a huge number of players start fighting.
In my opinion Eq2 delivers a very solid pve game. Its this mmorpgs strenght, and its where they should expand most agressive. It would most likely keep you occupied for a very long time (compared to single player games its an eternity ) I guess you already know the other character "flaws" of this game. Like high hardware requirement (for eye candy) and a slower leveling curve then wow. Regardless, its one of those games that anyone interested in computer games should have tried, pvp or not
im pretty sure they plan to add pvp, what im not sure is how it will work or when it will be added. if i were you i would just do the trial of the isle and if you like it, play anyway. im sure it will be added with time.

Don't go into this game counting on PvP anytime in the near future. there are a few other games out there that will more than scratch your PvP itch.

If PvP were ever going to have place in EQ2 it would take a long time. Just look at WoW - PvP was supposed to the one of main points - but so far they've managed only to balance classes and rest of PvP system is particularly nonexistant.
Imagine what would happen if they introduced at least duelling in EQ2. Class imbalances and therefore complaints would pop up quickly and it would take a long time to even it out without affecting PvE balance. I believe the devs just thought it's not worth the effort to even try implementing PvP. EQ2 is faring well with subscribtions being full PvE game so they don't even have to try attract PvP crowd.
EQ2 is made with only PvE in mind so I doubt there will ever be any PvP at all. The only PvP I se possible is duels or some kinda Arena, but It will probably be really unbalanced between classes (like EQ1). I find it hard to believe that they would ever implement "open" PvP between the two factions (maybe on a certain PvP server in the future).
So basically, if you feel that you cant play a mmorpg without any PvP I suggest...well, I would say WoW but you just left that game
But if you can manage without PvP give EQ2 a try. I will in a couple of months (my current residence only offers 56k modem)
Anyway, after playing EQ1 on Vallon Zek (PvP server) for a few years, I took a break and made a character on a bluebie server. While PvP added a little spice to the game I enjoyed the non-pvp server more. Not only because it was easier to lvl etc. but because pvp was unbalaced. Since Ive never seen balanced PvP anywhere I rather play a game with no pvp than one with bad pvp. If I wanna pvp, I play Day of defeat :P
What I think I want to say is this: If you dont focus the game around PvP its often better to leave it out of the game.
