Pokemon. A dumb idea or a goldchest?

Davv3Davv3 Member Posts: 11

One day when i was sitting in the car omw to school my mind fell over the idea with a Pokemon mmorpg. I dont know if there already exists a pokemon mmorpg but imagine the popularity the game would get. Especially in the ages 6-12 image I dont think that the game would be boring. infact with so many different options, the game would be nearly impossible to finish if you know what i mean! but as i said. Just an idea.

The only good thing I could see coming from a online Pokemon game is it would remove the children from the games I play.

HMMM now that I think about it... Yes pokemon online forever !!!

I really dont think that pokemon is such a bad game. But thats maybee because i grew up with it. the game belongs to those that grow up with it.

image lol that would be aewsome running around going to gyms, catching pokemon, fighting others in gyms. You could even have huge tournaments player run and npc. Many possibilities.

Can someone please make me a sig. I would like it to have something to do with an eagle(the bird) Somewhere near the eagle can you put the words "Global Defense Initiative". Could you also have the line "If you can't buff up, don't step up!". Thanks!

    Private Message me about it!

I dont think it will work, why you ask? Most maby all pokemon fans are young kids they dont have CC and probley most of there parents wont give a CC. Even if they do make gamecards I dont think there will be a lot of people to subscribe

It all breaks down to if the game is good or not...The only reason the show "Pokemon" got boring, was because it got too repetitive,etc... I found the Gameboy pokemon games quite fun when I played it a couple years back (I think the gameboy one's are repetitive now too)...Well, that's basically what it all boils down to, if it's done well or not...

  • ZheritelZheritel Member Posts: 176

Well... It'll be interesting to see if they make a Pokemon mmorpg soon...

I don't know if I'll beta it though...

  • punchlinepunchline Member Posts: 544

well wouldnt that be the same with like a magic the gathering card game into an mmorpg
except if you have played MTG and pokemon video games (excluding game boy) the xbox game for MTG and the gamecube games that involve pokemon are pretty weak games such as colleseum(spelling)
I think if they would have make a pokemon mmorpg about 4 years ago it would be freaking huge cuz thats when all the kids started playing it

You forget that each generation is spoiled more than the last.  If parents today can afford $50-60 for a gamecube game and $40 for a gameboy game as well as replacing game boys when the kids break it, I think the parents can afford to pay a monthly fee to get the children out of their hair.  Between the games, TcG, toys, videos, etc. parents already spend a huge amount on Pokemon so what is a few more dollars?  As for giving their child their CC, there will always be instore game cards and more important if the child is under 13 won't the parents need to create the childs account anyway?

The only hurdle in creating such a game will be managing the game.  They would need to have csr monitor the conversations to prevent pervs from the game.  Probably need to create 2 or 3 age groups for the servers in an attempt to prevent it as well.

Well, if you accept enough volunteers the customer support would be ok
  • punchlinepunchline Member Posts: 544

But do you really think that older people would buy the game if you had to pay monthly?
    just to irritate little kids?
i know that their are sick people out there but to buy a mmorpg just to harass little kids and pay monthly is out of mind

    haha nice one warc :P

who said that there will be a monthly? i am against the pay and play thingy.

to solve the immature/mature part of the game you can draw agerules and put sameaged players in the same game. And who said that pokemon needs to be sweet little things jumping up and down on flowerbeds.

One prob is  maybee that the world you are placed in would have to be very big. so that all players and creatures can fit in.

And as you say in sweden: Id you aren´t open for something "new". You can miss a lot of fun.

If you were a dev and had your own mmorpg, I don't think you would be against pay&play...

    Er du svensk?

I didnt say that pokemon has to be sweet little things jumping up and down on flowerbeds...... when theres like 8 year olds playing an mmorpg there can be some pretty vulgar language that needs to be controlled
also this game would be ranked pretty high for PvP wouldnt it?

  • ZheritelZheritel Member Posts: 176

I gotta say i like the idea... capturing pokemons and tournaments blahblahblah... Now I'm not a real fan of Pokemon, but the games are cooler than the series... and an mmorpg would be a blast..

It could have a server for kids and one for adults...

someone should contact the guys that own the concept and present the idea...

nah i dont think so ... i think they will just have chat filters and all that good stuff
because they would be mainly targeting younger kids and they will go with the majority and have filters.. just a thought::::38::

Hell, even I would play it, even though I laugh at people who still play pokemon games on the GB/GBA/GBSP.

It would really be a good idea, think about it, I like the idea, not just because it's pokemon (catching monsters, having rivals, pvp, gyms to compete in, dueling, becoming pokemon master ::::39:: etc...).

Now that I think about it, it would be my dream MMORPG, if they do it right and well, and the graphics has to be good, considering it would be released in the year 2007-2008 if they start working on it now.

It has to be 3D though,
If it had the same graphics and layout as on the GBA I wouldn't play it.

    Come here lovely Jigglypuff!

Pokemon has all the "right stuff" to be a mmo; its addictive.

The need to "catch em all" is already a driving force in the single player game, it probably would be on in a MMO as well, especially if you can compare and compete with others. With all the new versions and expansions that have come out since the original games, there must be hundreds and hundreds of different pokemon to raise and customize by now.

All they'd need is better 2d graphics, and a new combat system.

If Nintendo ever plans to break into the MMO biz, i'd expect this one.

Personally I think it doesn't even have to be Pokemon, there's also Digimon and all those other catching monster stuff, but Pokemon would be the best of them all, since it is the most known worldwide and possibly one of the older monster catching series.

Yes yes, I know alot about these stuff, can't blame me, I watched and played pokemon since I was... like 8 or something. (stopped playing the pokemon games after Pokemon Gold/Silver, 250 monsters is enough to memorize, let alone 350, 450, whatever the hell it is now)

Pokemon is not ready for a MMORPG, unless the put in a whole lot of items n crap in it. It would be a very challenging thing. I would like to see Monster Rancher as a MMORPG, which would really make scene.

If there was a official Pokemon MMORPG, yeah, I'd beta test it. I'm feeling the games are starting to fall out of touch......

In Digimon you don't catch your own monster..
    Just to make that clear.
