LF Friends :(

JhazvhugJhazvhug Member Posts: 37

Hey, I have played a lot of MMOs, and I have noticed that most of the ones I really got addicted to and I found fun. Is the ones that I have had a real friendship with people there. Most of the people I make friends with IRL don't play MMOs and most that I make friends with in game aren't active or something. I am looking for someone that wants to try a game or make a new character in a game with me. We can level group up and do stuff together. I like long walks on the beach and romantic dinners at fancy restaureants.

Well I am currently able to play AoC, guild wars and any free to play game. (I have bought some games but a lot of them I am not subscribed to now.) I would prefer not having to spend money right now for a new game or something so.. yeah.

MMO's by their very nature are social games, so making friends in game is pretty much a given, of course it helps if there are tools that make it easier to communicate in game, voice comms etc, in Eve in particular, when we're not under fleet comms then having a laugh with everyone there, is, a lot of fun...  communication, its like everything else, the more easily you are able to communicate the more likely you are to be able to make friends in games.

Its always nice to play games with someone you consider a friend. So if you'd like, just download xfire and add me (my id is same as my forum username) so we can chat and play together.

It sounds like I'm bit in the same boat as you guys. I got no rl friends that will touch a mmo despite numerous tries with various friend invite trials and other bribes they all say stuff like "I just don't have the time to devote to this type of game" So that leaves me to rely on the kindness of strangers in every mmo that I play. I have never been able to find any sort of lasting friendships in these games and I am trully amazed at those who do where those friendships even carry across games over several years. Maybe I'm just too anti social at heart lol...

I find myself drifting from game to game and although I greatly enjoy a lot of the game content I usually drift from guild to guild in any given game as I level up and by the time I hit max level or have seen most of the content a game has to offer I usually move on as by that time the game has become a massively single player experience for me other then getting in on an occasional pug for something . The guilds that I get into either have got nothing going on at all in them or they are an inner circle of rl friends or family that won't give you the time of day unless they are short a body for an instance run or some such. Or everyone is on like 6 different time zones and some of the people you only run into once in a while.

I've actually become a bit burned out on the whole mmo genre lately I've gone back to spending half of my gaming time on single player stuff while I jump in and out of eq2 as I still got some time left on my sub for that game but eq2 basically feels like another single player game when I'm on. It certainly would be nice have a bit more of a social aspect for me in these games but I try not get my hopes up due to too many past disapointments.

  • Sigh...in the same boat. I don't have any friends who would play a MMO with me and recently, those refreshing meetings with like-minded people have been missing in my MMO experience. I wish I could find a MMO with a great community and a lot of group content so that making friends is encouraged, but have yet to find it. But there's always hope...

    Hey Jhaz,

I sent you a message.  For anyone else, the message basically just states that I had a similar thread like this and we decided to go with GW, but after I bought it seems everyone else backed out or is off my play schedule.  One of the other guys and I are playing LoTRO, however.  We just started, and I would be willing to start a level 1 (even though my lotro guy is only 8) on either game.  I also have an active wow sub I'd play.

    Play Time: 7p-12a  EST GMT-5

Hey, well I have like 8 max levels in guild wars that I could help you out with stuff with. And maybe start a new character with ya too :D. In LotRO I also have a character I think about level9 but it was a trial account and I don't really know if I am up to spending any more money (I have recently spent money on several games, lol.) and I am working on reactivating a WoW sub now but I am having problems, so yeah :D I can play GW right this second if you want and WoW maybe in a couple hours or tomorrow. LotRO.. IDK if I am willing to get that right now

Well, I'd be willing to play WoW with ya (whenever) and I'd love to play GW (its the trilogy edition, not the newest xpac) but I don't want any hand outs, just want to start from scratch.

Can't be until much later tonight or tomorrow though, as I am going out with the ol' lady tonight.

I seem to be having a lot of trouble with WoW atm (all the battle.net crap and stuff) So make a character on guild wars right now and tell me what your name is, I will talk to you on there :D
