In my boredom I decided to give a fair shot at Anarchy Online since I've read its a deep game and still somewhat populated.
I was wondering if anyone would like to join the ride? Maybe reroll a toon and start again in a party? Or if you are looking/waiting for sandboxes anyway lets play AO till one finally releases?
TBH I really don't want to start playing and then uninstall the game after 10 mins only because I feel like I am playing a single player game...
So if you are looking for something different, something with depth, something where you can group with real people then join me! ^^

"Ad astra per aspera."
A month ago Id have been all up in this bitch. I was willing to try just about anything, the older the game, the better. A free trial of LotRO with the wife playing along too took care of my gaming needs though, and quite happily still today.
Sorry man, but best of luck finding some peeps.

I gave up on Ao 1 years ago, its a great game but I was time to move on.
"you are like the world revenge on sarcasm, you know that?"
One of those great lines from The Secret World
I love AO.
I keep coming back and im planing to come back later this year when new game engine goes live.
Good luck to you there and smash some clans with big stick for me
Thanks for the support guys! Well I am still hesitating between enforcer/soldier though, maybe you could help me with that .
"Ad astra per aspera."
Actually i'd like to give this a shot.
I've never actually played it though,so you'd have to suffer a total newb.
Downloading the client right now.
It's been a few years since I played, but what I know about AO should be relevant enough for free accounts. Basically if you want to tank, go enforcer. There are plenty of classes in AO that can tank, but only the enforcer has the tools to tank multiple mobs efficiently. Most wannabe tanks go with Atrox enforcers since they have much higher base hp than other races, and can equip strength/stamina type armor easier. Those going with other races, usually have very specific goals in mind, or just want to stand out.
If you're not into tanking, you should probably avoid enforcers as that's what you'll be asked to do in most groups you join. Soldiers can actually take more punishment 75% of the time with their mirror shields, but can't hold aggro as well, and not on multiple mobs. Soldiers are more of a support class. They have good damage output, especially alpha damage with the right weapons. They can taunt mobs off healers or the tank if things are going badly and take next to no damage for a minute and a half, and they have some of the best defensive buffs in the game that reduce damage by a percentage. Soldiers are also invaluable in mass pvp for assist targeting. (Being the first to attack, and having others assist you on the same target. Only soldiers can survive the retaliation that follows consistently)
If you are planning on playing on a free account, I'd recommend enforcer of the two simply because there are more good, and easy to get melee weapons than assault rifle weapons in the original game. Most of the soldier weapons veteran players use are from expansions, and you need the expansions to use them (or at least you did while I played).
If you are going to duo with someone, I'd recommend playing enforcer with a doctor (and get more team mates as needed). Soldier works well duoed with any other class really, as they're not very reliant on healing, and help reduce the damage done to others in the team. Oh, and while I've focused a lot on tanking here, that's just because you presented a choice between two "tank classes". Levelling up in AO you rarely need a tank or healer, even if it's a group focused game. Using the strengths of the group, and picking the right content for your group, gets you a long way. Enforcer + doctor leading a team that breezes through 100% difficulty missions or killing outdoors spawns with mobs 50+ levels higher than you makes for happy teams, though.
Ronin I will join you. You still up for it?
Edit: Game will be up and runing in about 1 hour 30 mins.. I will be playing a doctor (healer), anyone want to get in on this with me?
The people here are running a froob organisation called Tribulations. It is backed by a long time paid subscriber org called Alpha Omega. They're good people and are willing to assist newcomers with the knowledge you need. Tell 'em Shmender sent you.

"Ad astra per aspera."
Zaik, yours?
Which server are you at? Coz I'v been told Atlantean (Rubi-Ka 1) is more populated so I think we should start there. Also it would be nice to get the "gang" together and start at the same time.
"Ad astra per aspera."
Alright, I'll recreate one there.
I'm up for this. Prolly won't be ingame until tomorrow.
Anyone intersted just join my xfire clan:

Or simply add me as a friend.
However I don't want to force ppl to use it but in that case please offer an alternative like msn or irc.

Three of us started to play already. But we are still low level newbies so its not to late to join! ^^

Enforcer is your typical MMO tank with maybe the difference that he has some buffs to boost himself or other people. Soldier is something completely unique to AO in my opinion - it's like a "ranged tank", though he does very good damage as well. Both are nice classes for starters. Combine these classes with either Atrox or Solitus.
