    i can't see them reinventing the magic of the first game, it's like the original red alert - cheesy but wonderfully done...... then red alert 2 with a porn starish tanya (the original was much cooler) and it was just shit compared to the original red alert. Less said about the 3rd one and the direction of tiberium wars, the better.

    i'll play Starcraft 2, can't see me matching hours gone past on older RTS games though, i think they've lost the magic in recent years.. none have stood out for me.

    Although Napolean Total War... has made me look back at that series after the awful "empire", not an actual RTS but i do like that direction a lot better than what RTS games have become. (Dawn of War 2 added another twist but i didn't really go for that, felt less of an RTS than total war)

     no sequel is ever as good as the original but I think SC2 does a good job.  The only RTS that i have enjoyed since SC1 (excluding WAR3) was Company of Heroes, thought DOW2 was lacking in all areas, C&C4 needs no mention and supcom a bit too spammy.
