I was curious so found out -- don't shoot the messenger. :p

Looking at that, it was more of a online muiltiplayer version of rogue. I don't really think it qualifies unless you consider 6 players massive multiplayer.  I think meridian 59 was the earliest mmorpg I could find.

Test the waters see what works patch patch expansion. It's been happening like this 25 years if you guys really wanna change it stop buying the games. Make a movement for that it will take everyone to stop it bitching on their forums is just annoying and immature and wont fix anything. In fact i'd censor your behinds too its only been like 2 or 3 months stfu lol. Wow sucked a WHOLE year before it got good. Same goes for everquest anarchy online ultima hell conan just got some shine going.

Alot of the problem in the MMORPG scene is 80% of the scene doesnt even understand the scene its playing in. And all it does is bitch whine carry on and pay for the things its bitching whining and carrying on about. And the game isnt going down the tubes just because of whining. It still continues to generate money regardless of whiners and crybabies. It's name and brand alone carries it along with the fact its not that bad. The companies stock continues to be stable as well. So just because fan boys are whining and the band wagon trolls are howling doesnt mean anything. The same idiots that said aion is failing hmm last time I check its still number 3 subscription wise. With over 1.5 million subs times 14.99 yea um thats not failing. Guess what STO has twice that with all the complaining never underestimate the power of the trekkie.

I was about to write a long drawn out post attempting to logically refute the claims you make in your post but the truth of the matter is the extreme exaterations you use stand for themselves.  I can't remember the last time I've read a post from someone so sure of themselves who was in fact so utterly clueless........

And am I the only one who notices sometimes when you read wildly untrue claims like this the person never even returns to defend his position?

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

No, you are not the only one. I also notice that those types of posts also happen to coincide with the user rating on this website raising a tenth of a point or so.

I'm a paying customer. I spent a good deal of cash on this product, and honestly, I feel like I got ripped off.

If that's bitching and whining to you, no big deal, you're not someone I'm every going to meet and have any contact with. I didn't pay you for the product.

My problem is that Cryptic feels my complaints are bitching and whining, and they act accordingly. They have no intention whatsoever of developing customer loyalty or doing right by their customers.

STO was never meant to be a Star Trek fans paradise or a really great game. Cryptic knew they couldn't do the IP any justice with their limited resources, time, and funds. The IP was just something to keep Cryptic afloat. If the fans support it long enough it will get marginally better. We just don't get it like Zinc has stated.

Good because i will be their airing my grievances the moment they do.

There isn't much point anymore really.

Cryptic knows the game is going down in flames, players do (but many can't bring themselves to admit it), the gaming world on the whole knows it too.

It isn't news that STO is circling the drain thanks to Cryptic's ineptitude, anyone with any knowledge of the game can see the bright pink writing on the wall.

At this point, it's really more of a "Remember that awful Star Trek MMO? Shame it failed, as I love Star Trek."

Who really cares anymore. The game is a train wreck, has been since launch, bury the corpse.

Agreed. People simply need to forget about this game and chalk it up to another IP being trashed by a worthless company.

All this is obvious. Thus the "ripped off" feeling.

Well in my opinion as one who drank the kool-Aid, fell for the hype, thrown down the bucks for a life time sub even after reading all the negative reviews from many game sites realize that STO is nothing more than a stand-alone PC game that someone puts on their computer at the office to kill time during work breaks.  This is as far from an MMO as internet Checkers.  Do I feel cheated and lied to? Sure I do, but that is my own fault.  Will I quit?  No, because my 5 year old son loves the game and I let him play it a couple hours a week and it keeps him from getting in my hair.  The bottom line is sure I got taken to the bank, I spent $300+ on it and I have no one to blame but myself.  There is an old saying that goes something like this--When life deals you lemons,,Make lemon-aide- and that is what I have done.  I love to watch my son play this game and feel that the money I spent on it was well worth it if for no other reason than for his enjoyment.

Very good post. I agree that if it makes your son happy, it's worth it.

    BTW, I hate lemonade.

Thanks for the complement and also hate lemon-aide, but fancy a hard lemon-aide on those hot summer days.

Unfortunately Cryptic and other dodgy companies now also have a motto thanks to people like yourself who were duped into buying lifetime subs. "When people throw tons of money away on crap, keep making crap."

I don't want to knock your outlook that if your son gets entertainment from it that it at least has some value. But don't you think that the $300 plus could have been used to supply far more quality time together than with this poor excuse for an MMORPG?
