Games you can actually play solo?

I'm an adult former 5 year Everquest  player who has tried Everquest 2 to level 18 a couple of month a ago.

I loved playing Everquest 2 but could not complete my guild writs with no group of friends so I gave up on the game.   5 years and you think Sony would stop punishing players for being solo.

Are there any  MMORPG's similar to EQ you can solo?

Miracles happen when you believe.

Dark age of camelot and World of Warcraft are your best bets for EQish soloable games.

I play EQ for years and I have good feeling toward old EQ.

I find CoH to understand solo better then anyone else(althought Issue 3 is messing it to some extend).  Of course, CoH is to simple, it is to short, that dont mean it is not an extremely nice experience for the time you play it(600 hours + alternates if you get to 50, so 1200 hours if you get a PB to 50, assuming you dont do power leveling to evolve faster).

I never like Superheros and I still dont like them, but I like CoH a LOT!  Give yourself a medieval look and assume everyone around is from a Sci-Fi setting, it help a lot, and with the flying squids around, it look aliens.

Well I am currently playing both EQ2 and WoW.

WoW is by far the more "solo friendly" of the two. Which is just as well since getting a team in WoW is a giant pain in the buttsky.

EQ2 is difficult to solo for any length of time for a couple of reasons. One, very few of the quests (even after the patch) lend themselves well to soloing after about level 20 and secondly because the EXP gain from soloing is so woefully slow that it is just not practical.

i havent tried WoW (probably never will) or COH (definately never will), so i cant give you an accurate idea of what soloing is like there, but i have played lineage 2 and it is solo all the way through (easily) if you wanted to, plus open PvP. if you can stand the korean/chinese bots that are in various places then you would have fun with this game. personally im going to be playing EQ2, and will have two accounts (two boxing, or hydra, whatever they call it these days) so this wont be too much of a problem for me. anyway, good luck finding one you like.

WoW is very solo friendly, which Im playing atm... but it is also a very lonely game, the servers appear empty. I think this is due to people playing solo almost all the time.

WoW is your best bet. I have some friends here at the Cafe' and they swear by the soloing of WoW. Its fast and takes little time to get to a higher playing field. WoW seems to be so big into soloing there is little need or want to group.

CoH is also solo friendly for the most part but its a super heros game and not at all like EQ or WoW. The mobs are not in "camps" they spawn as a player approaches, the missions are almost always in instanced zones (which is my favorite thing about this game, aside from the awsome graphics) and there is no crafting of items or much need to build a real community.

WoW is solo friendly and group friendly.

You can solo to 60 and solo tradeskills because ingredients for higher end recipes don't drop from raid/group only mobs.

There is a lot of content in WoW that requires grouping, but pick up groups are EASY to find and there are plenty of guilds to join, but I solo mostly and there are lots of challenging solo mobs and quests available.

L2 is the suck beacuse of asian players overabuse of bots and as an english speaking person it is difficult to communicate with them.

I still find it funny people want to be solo and alone all the time in a Multi Player game... its like going to a concert and complaining there arn't enough seats with no one around you or something. If you want to be alone while listening to them then buy the CD and stay at home.

If you want to solo in a computer game then *gasp* buy a single player computer game! *sigh*

    C'mon Dewfire.

I get your point, and it was the first thing I thought (I play Morrowind & Gothic II, alot) but then have you never gone to the pub (bar) not because you want to actually talk to anyone, but because you want to have a drink and be around people.

It's the unexpected, erratic nature of people that makes an MMO, even if you don't want to directly participate - you just know they're there and it's not just a chip staring back at you.image

Yea good point, and after posting thought about it and some like to have others to compare progress too.

WoW is a good solo MMORPG, while EQ2 does have solo content (I play EQ2 alot btw) it always has and always will be group oriented to get most things done. Its just the type of game it is, and alot of people apparently enjoy it, myself included.

Oh, and to original poster about Guild Writs, if your guild wasn't willing to help you complete writs for the guild, then I would of strongly suggested finding a new guild. My guildmates will all grab a writ and go out together to complete it as a group. That is odd...
