The team from Runes of Magic has provided us with this short developer journal discussing the Kalo, a race of people not entirely dissimilar to walking, talking rhinos.
The Kalo Knights are the main knights of the Kingdom of Kalon, one of the Six Ancient Lordships. They are regarded as a fairly distinctive group of Knights because they are not humans, but are from a lordship founded by sub-humans. The Kalo race looks similar to rhinoceroses, but are bipedal.
They are stout and tall -- the average adult human only comes up to the chest of a Kalo, and is less than half as wide. The Kalo Knights are not based on cavalry, as is usual. In fact, they don't have a cavalry at all, as there is currently no animal in the land capable of withstanding their weight. Instead, these knights are based on a strong infantry. While their mobility and agility is not good, their strong bodies and advanced rune armor technology has made them the most powerful military in the region.

Another day, another F2P review…am I getting déjà vu? This one does not even say its F2P, it seems we don’t need to be told that. Another time I ask why this MMO is not a new continent (add on) in an existing game from a MMO company that just keeps churning them out?
Me thinks you have the wrong article... =P
I am trying to force myself to play ROM, the system is setup so that you have to purchase from the item mall later in the game if you wish to be good. Now there is a debate to this many say no you don't and most say yes you do, however; if your a casual gamer then no you wont.
Adding in new races or whatever they want this far down wont help them because this is a WOW clone without the WOW PVP feeling. Battlegrounds are horrific in this game and they got countless breakdowns weekly for Siege battles. Whoever has the most paid total in item shop items for a guild will be the best, leaving no chance for guilds who play without item shop help. There is some major imbalance with this game because of how they setup the item shop.
I for one would of rather seen a P2P then a F2P because they basically made the game knowing that you would have to buy from item shop just to advance yourself later on in game. Yeah they managed to take a F2P game and made it into a cash cow by defining how players advance by ultimately needing cash shop items. Wasted more money on this game in a years time then playing any other pay to play game for a few years strait.
So, he drinks the kool-aid and the trip begins...

Me thinks Scot was trying to be all witty but failed
Guys and Gals. After playing on the Grimdal PvP server This game has beautiful graphics, that is the only good thing I have to say.
Once I reached L15, I was "fair game " for all other PvPrs. Unless you are ready to compete with non stop ganking by L55/55 players PLEASE,PLEASE roll a character on a PvE server.
Until there is higher end content for high level pvp players you will basically be killed over and over. Although this is a MMORPG It is also very difficult to get groups because many players will join groups to "help" in quests/dungeons,they also wait until the group is vulnerable and then they attack the group and kill them. Beware.....
After getting to lvl 54 on the PVP server and spending hundreds of dollars whacking out my character I can offer one advice, don't play on the PvP server.
The reason is, there is a chance that you will drop your gear when you get killed in pvp and the only way around this is by "SEALING" your gear, of course this is a cash shop only item and you can only seal a few of your items. The way around this is to get Cash shop costumes and enchant them with stats from other highend items using another type of Cash shop item to abstract the stat mods. In the end you have a gimped character because it will be fully decked out in costume gear but you don't drop any items so you can pvp risk free but you'll never fully reach your characters potential.
The other problem is the class imbalances. What can I say? They arn't balanced. PVP just isn't balanced in this game. Skirmishes end in 5-10 seconds. The victor is usually whoever got the jump on the unsuspecting, even more so when they are fighting mobs. Its usually rogues too and they will be using the hide ability. Its the best PVP skill ever.
Remember you CANNOT walk around with unsealed gear because players with fully sealed gear can die as many times as they want in pvp and all it takes is one death from you to loose your awesome gear. Do yourself a favor and roll in a PVE server. This way you can actually wear the best gear instead of costumes. NO MORE COSTUMES!!!!!
