Spent $1912 on a Refurbished Alienware Aurora ALX Destop
I7-920
2 GB HD 5970, GDDR5
12 GB Tripple Channel 1333MHZ
Killer Xeno Pro
2 x 1T hard drives
Wirells 365 Bluetooth Module
Alienware MM Keyboard, TactX headset & mouse
I am using a Refurbished xps from 4-5 years ago I was lucky with that one no problems.
Any way to tell what parts dell is using inside the computer like motherboard, brand of ram ect before you get it?
So what Monitor? Be my mmo/gaming/internet general use computer. Price does not matter much but 300-500 seems to be lots of good choices. How big of a deal is 1920 x 1200 vs 1920 x 1080? 27" seems a bit big for how close I am to the monitor but wont rule it out. Thinking 23-25" 2ms seem needed for low/no ghosting right? The 120 mhz ones - have read that there could be issues with text blurring and I dont care about 3d mostly mmo's but still would consider one................ So any thougths ?
Thinking about this one:
SAMSUNG XL2370-1 Charcoal Gray 23" 2ms LED Backlight Mega DCR 5m:1 Widescreen LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 DC 5,000,000:1(1000:1) That or 120Mz dell or a 1920 x 1200

Did you already buy it?
A custom build spending $1900 would absolutely crush that. If you havent bought it, go custom.
Like Cyberpower ? Not going to build one myself is that what you mean. I thought with the 5970 its was not a bad deal.
I would be willing to wait for a monitor that is not yet released if any great ones coming?
Since you are spending that much on machine already, open your wallet a little more and buy a 30" with decent panel. Monitor is the single most important part providing visual enjoyment.
dfan do you play on a 30"? Would consider it but will I run into lag/ghosting much more ? Anyone use a 30' in mmos?
I am sick of big lag fest battles like in Aion would rather go with smaller monitor if it helps a lot but if not much difference then would consider going biger.
I play on a Proscan 40" HDTV and have absolutely no issues, well the only problem I have are some games that don't have an option to select resolution will not be centered on screen, but we're talking games from like Big-Fish, so not a big deal...I find something else to play....hehe
This is an example how it should not be done, Tvs got huge pixels and much input lag compared to monitors.

That's a good site to compare monitors.
Dfan thats a great site - Thanks
Still looking....
I'm gonna toss out the triple monitor Eyefinity option.. 3x NEC EA231wm's? or 3x Dell P2310H's. You might want to look into a 23.6" 120hz Acer GD235HZbid
Too bad all current 120 Hz monitors are with TN-panel, aka crappy.
Eh, refurbished components are a gamble imho. You never know the history of the product. You can luck out and get good stuff or get unlucky and have a lot of problems.
