Ok kids: The people who made this game is Fenix Soft, Square Enix is a publisher (in this games case), Gamepot is a publisher.
Think of it like a book, an author develops (writes) a book, the publisher helps the author get his book on the shelves. its more complicated than that but thats it in a nutshell.
Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)

I don't think that's entirely true.
The music was done by SE's second favorite (and my first favorite vg composer): Hitoshi Sakimoto. And some of the art appears to have been at least made to look like SE/FF's work (like the title screen for instance).
Either SE gave them a lot of support/talent/assets when Fenix was developing, or they gave it a SE facelift when they decided to publish it.
Either way, if only from the music alone, when you play the game you definitely get the feeling you're playing a Square Enix game.
I didn't play the game but I downloaded and went to settings and they were same as playonline setting which was SEs online service for FFXI.
Samurai
Square Enix is throwing us a freebie MMO to play to warm us up for their next Final Fantasy MMO!
I'll bet $1 they have some of the upcoming content or gameplay in this free game and they will use the feedback to tweak the premium product they are working on.
Not even close. Has nothing to do with any upcomign MMOs, this game has been out for years in asia, was closed down or something, and now brought back to us by Gamepot who is publishing it this time around. Square Enix has nothing to do with the game anymore, theyre the ones who shut down the original to begin with, and now Gamepot bought the rights to bring it back.
It wasn't shut down. There wasn't enough demand for it to be a P2P game. They switched to F2P and it's still up in Japan today.
Gamepot is a large Japanese publisher of games, and Gamepot USA is their NA division. Other Square Enix MMO's are hosted by them as well such as Concerto Gate.
If I was running Square-Enix, I'd have removed any mention of my company with this game. Trying to launch a years old tired game as something "new" is laughable.
But then again, after selling FXIII the next day after I bought it because it was a pale parody of an RPG, I don't have much faith in SE anymore anyway.
-Letting Derek Smart work on your game is like letting Osama bin Laden work in the White House. Something will burn.-
-And on the 8th day, man created God.-
Ah, thanks for clarifying. I knew something had happened to the game over there a few years ago, wasnt sure exactly.
