Armoury and cross class skills

Lord.BachusLord.Bachus Member RarePosts: 9,686

It seems that with introdicing the armoury you can switch between jobs by just equiping the right weapon for that job.

But.......

Will it be possible to use cross class skills from other classes i have leveled, as this is the fun part of a multi classing system, otherwise it will be noting more then switching characters in other games.

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

I way I read it, yes.

Skills from classes can carry over, but not all skills...

this I based of the class you are playing, plus there is a penalty to those skills, you can use.

most likely we'll be able to, but it will be limited like sub-jobs in XI. though, I'm hoping the limit will be more liberal so that we might be able to "paint" our own classes using more diverse skill palettes.

    Yes, yes..

It will be more liberal than in XI. The skills don't lose half of their effectiveness (they lose some though) and only few abilities are tied to one class.

You can also equip skills from 10 different classes if you want. You're not locked to one job's skills at time like in XI.

Yes! Heaven indeed.   Do you have a link where I might read the official word on this stuff?  I'm beyond excited if so

This type of system will of course be over powering, which is not a good system,so to balance it out, they will not be giving out as many good skills as the FFXI system had.The other part will be still limiting some skills to only certain classes, they are not going to outright give every player access to every single skill, then there would be no purpose to having a class system at all,it is already borderline crossing that threshold.

This will also never be the same as "other" games because unlike other games, you do not switch player, meaning logout to log onto another player. That "other" player would have nothing in relation to the other player and could be in a totally different part of the game world. So far it is uncertain about "repeating" content, that is the flaw of "other" games, you not only have to logout to another player, but you then have to repeat all the same boring quests,to level another player.

This system will of course carry one "big" flaw that the ffxi system did much better, that is the stat system. You are tied to your stats now, unlike FFXI where your stats complimented your switch between classes. There is talk that they may end up allowing restats, this would just prove a bad design and defeat the whole purpose of this design, meaning they should have just left it the way the FFXI system was.SO although i feel this system is not as good,i would not agree with allowing everyone to just restat, they made their system ,they should stick with it or totally scrap it.

Just wondering ... after lvling up all classes ( jobs ) , am I going to be superman with all available skills on one class?

Hm, I dunno where it's been said officially, but my sources are... unofficial at the moment :).

You can set up 20 skills (in Alpha anyway) at time. Maybe more later, but you can never use all skills at the same time.

As you level more classes, your repertoire to choose from gets bigger and bigger though.

Do you have an official source for this knowledge of the skill system, or are we to take your word that you know someone breaking their NDA?

It sounds nice, but I choose to remain skeptical of any absolute statements made about the skill system until I see SE comment on it.  Even if that's the system in Alpha there's no guaruntee it will stay that way through launch.

If you want confirmation, toss me a PM in that case.

It is wise to remain skeptical, but I don't think they'd remove the skill limit for retail version. They will very possibly change the skill cap to something different, as well as make different skills cost different amounts of skill points, but at the core the system won't change from what I described above.

Hyanmen speaks the truth. Skills CAN cross over from one class to another, but that does not mean they will be fully effective. To my knowledge, there is no official word on this--only NDA leaks. And given the videos and images out there...yeah, Hyanmen is just right and that is all.

I would take Hyanmen word for it and is willing to prove it but not through these forum posts.  If you can read between the lines you should see were his info is coming from.
