Oh sorry, i guess i misunderstood that part when you suggested he is like a sheep... WRONG.. actually I suggested and implied that I"m not like sheep .. from the phrase that weak minded follow others like sheep.. I'm not one of them.. I didn't call anyone a sheep.. or any other name.. I hope you use better comprehension skills when you read the Cataclysm notes.. lol
not
Anyways back on topic:
For Me most important part of Cata is complete revamp ( cough laugh and more coughing) of old Azeroth. I mean, in how many MMOs you have chance to see world actually change over time with story progression? And by change i don't mean cosmetic improvements or pvp objectives changing hands.
Two whole continents are completely changing, not only geometry but also story arcs are updated acordingly to new stroy progression (scourge falling back, Horde progressing in Ashenvale etc). I'm the guy that reads all the quests and goes to all the places (accessible or not so this change is really welcome. Sure not all quests will be updated, and not every piece of geometry changed but still to revisit all this places and see how they progressed with story will be really amazing. make up your mind.. is it a "COMPLETE revamp or not.. you say it was, then say it isn't.. LOL or does the definition of complete evade you?
And to those that suggest i get that for free, sure this change is for everyone but _it is_ part of the expansion, so for me those 40$ is like approval vote for Blizzard. Honestly it's, as someone else stated, pocket money, you can easily spent more going to restaurant / cinema etc. and I can easily spend it elsewhere and enjoy it more.. and longer So in my WORLD, it's not worth $40

Oh i understand you are in alpha right? Or is that 90% number pulled out of your ass?
From current information you can assume it's is way more that 10% quests changing completely. Hell they pull scourge from EPL and this zone alone holds more than 10% quests from Eastern Kingdoms. And there are more changes like this all over the old world, like in Ashenvale horde is gaining much more ground, or Desolance changing into more green zone, or Thousand Needles underwater. so many quests in that zones will also have to be changed accordingly.
About quests being deleted sure there are some quest that just don't have place in new Azeroth like ones to old Naxxramas, or other that just don't fit logically.

Thats your opinion. if you did your research and read the amount of changes new expansion is bringing to the game you would make more reasonable posts. Its a typical WOW bashing and its boring and generic. Its been more then 5 years so give it a rest. WOW is going to be even bigger success after Cata.
Saw some people complaining about it being 40 bucks and not 25, well in some poorer countries we still pay the same price as you do, but taking in account our salaries and price of our currency. We pay the same "value" as a person in US with average salary would pay 300 bucks for that same game. How that sounds? So really, 40 bucks is SO expensive?
Ahhh Goat.. Did I hit a tender spot? I'm sorrrrrryyy.. lol
Now why wouldn't I come to this thread to respond.. Did I missunderstand the topic title, "40 bucks is it worth it? >> reply".. Sounds to me he or she is asking of my opinion. One thing I"ve learned in business is that marketers love sheep. They truely do.. Sheep do more hype and bring in more business then any commercial or ad. All you need to do is word your promotion in such a way that the willing sheep read more into it then what is there and run with it.. Companies know this happens, and will never do anything to keep it from happening or stopping it..
This topic is like someone asking me if buying a Chevy is worth is.. IMO, HELL NO.. lol I wouldn't touch most chevy's with a 10 foot pole.. lol However, I'm sure there are those chevy fans that will be running around telling everyone, "Chevy did a complete revamp on all cars, and they are now the best things on the road".. etc etc.. When in fact all chevy did was trim off the fat, made their dealership network simpler and smaller, and tweaked a few cars.. I can hear the chevy fans now, "All the chevys get over 40 mpg, they rock".. when actually NONE of the cars can get 40 mpg, but a select few hybrids.. lol Funny how fans with those rose colored glasses always seem to miss details like that.. lol
Again the question was asked.. I gave my reply If you don't like my viewing of Cat.. boo hoo hoo.. Anyone have any sheep shears?

The real stupidity of this thread is that all we have to judge the new expansion is somem promo material. This is way too little to make any sound judgements. In the Chevy analogy it is the equivalent if the 2020 Chevy is going to be worth buying.
So the people saying that Cataclysm will not be worth it are idiots and those saying that it will be worth it are also idiots. You are making a snap judgement about something you have way too little information on and which will be opinion/preference based based anyway.

CATA simple ensures WOW will be the top dog until at least 2013/2014. ... Perhaps not with the same people playing, but with the same number no doubt....
Have a nice day.
Thats a bold statement, WoW has been top dog for a long time but during that time its competition has been less than impressive, there is many more games in production now that look way better than anything thats challenged WoW recently. Do I think any of the new games will be anywhere near as big as WoW? Hell no, I doubt any game ever will be this big ever again if I'm honest, WoW had freak succes, the game surfaced at the perfect time with good marketing, but the new games will probably start stripping down WoW's player numbers in my opinion, even if it stays the top game I very much doubt it will be with the same number.
As for Cata being worth it, thats all down to the person paying for it really, for me personally it would be a waste of money, I wouldn't last more than a week at most in WoW these days, levelling is far too quick and raids are too simplified for my taste, I even found the PvP to be extremely tedious after a while.

So people are totally incapable of making a informed 'judgement' about something unless you have the final product in hand? We are idiots if we make a judgement based on partial information even though we could of course change our judgement as the information changes or is added to??
There is a quantity of information available, some officially released via the conference, website, forums etc, and some of course through the rumour mills, but all told there is a fair quantity of info out there. Rydeson and others have decided that these changes wouldn't be worth the money for their reasons and others like myself are feeling positive about the changes as they stand and feel it is worth the money. Even if Blizzard had only made one press release saying they were bringing an expansion out and raising the level cap to 85, those two pieces of information alone would be enough to spark a debate of the pro's and con's.
Whether you agree of disagree with whether the changes are worth it, we are more than capable of making a decision on that worth with the given information.
It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.
So the people saying that Cataclysm will not be worth it are idiots and those saying that it will be worth it are also idiots. You are making a snap judgement about something you have way too little information on and which will be opinion/preference based based anyway.
Eh... I didnt need to buy the iPad to decide that the $500 wasn't worth spending on it to me.
Sometimes that little bit of info you get is enough to make a decision. I mean for everything new the iPad can do it's still really just an oversized iPod Touch, and my Touch really isn't all that special.
Same goes for WoW and Cataclysm. Sure it has new features and some minor adjustments/improvements.
But after reading the little bit of info (which really isn't a "little bit", but rather a large amount... ) I can say that to me the expansion isn't worth it. I know this because after all the shine and 'Ohhhh Ahhhh!' factor has worn off it will just be WoW, and I would end up doing the same stuff I was doing in game as I was doing before the expansion...
There are 3 types of people in the world. 1.) Those who make things happen 2.) Those who watch things happen 3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
The wife and I left WoW in Jan and I'm not sure cata is exciting enough to warrant a return. I might wait a month or so and log on to vent to see if anyone from the old guild is enjoying it.

Originally posted by Goldknyght Its not worth it in since this is what Blizzard is making in Revenue i guess not profits a month. 14.99 X 11.5million(last checked) = 172,385,000 and thats just from WoW a month. Now there is NO FRACKIN WAY u can tell me they are spending 172 million on servers and employees a month sorry there not. And With those kind of profits BLIZZARD should give EVERY EXPANSION FREE!!! at least until there damn numbers fall down to a number where they arn't making a killing though there dumb subscribers who keep buying there expansion pacs for 40 bucks. now do 40 X 11.5 million cuz everyone has to have there xp pac and they will sell at least 5 million first week. NOT WORTH IT!!! PERIOD
So because Blizzard is so successful with WoW they should just give shit away for free and start taking a lose? You can see in the business world this makes no sense. If I was Blizzard I'd be charging $200 for the expansion and laugh at all rage on the forums. Because let's face it there will be tons that will turn it down but the truly addicted will buy it and that is about 3/4s of their subscription base. Blizzard has you by the balls and you know it. When you pay your subscription every month you are paying for Content, Characters, server fees. If your making that much money why not thank your customer base with a free massive update that we call expansions. They are still charging http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=66710 // http://us.blizzard.com/store/details.xml?id=1100000265 for WOtLK 40 bones. ANd you think thats good business practices but you lame zombies that play WoW dont see how Blizzard is just raping you each subscription payment and every expansion pack. You know nothing but how to get raped each month. EDIT: And since wow is so sucessful its like they are charging you to breath. They have a monopoly on subscription MMORPG's and they are JUST MILKING IT FOR ALL ITS WORTH instead of actually caring about there customers who made them so sucessful
You wouldn't be bitchin if it was you getting the paychecks, so again their business practice is solid. It's a business anyone who owned could be proud of. Just because you think your subscription is wasted on hookers, drugs and alcohol (which they probably are) doesn't mean they don't put any effort into maintaining so you can continue to play the damn thing. Really that's all there is to be said no one ever came up with the concept that content is paid with subscriptions, that was pledges by companies themselves it isn't a standard. You are being privileged to play on their servers and that is all.
[[ DEAD ]] - Funny - I deleted my account on the site using the cancel account button. Forum user is separate and still exists with no way of deleting it. Delete it admins. Do it, this ends now.
Becareful of the numbers.. The facts are 1/2 of Blizzard's customer base ( CHINA ) does NOT pay a monthly subscription.. In fact they pay a per hour diem rate, that barely covers the cost servers and expenses.. It is the WESTERN playerbase that foots the tab and pays for 90% of Blizzards profits.. How's that for a kick in the arse? YES, The western market is supplimenting much of the eastern customers.. I can promise you this.. If Cataclysm cost 5 million to make, it will be the western market paying for it, NOT the players from China.. As for the rest of the eastern market such as Korea, I don't know what there $$ structure..
If there are 5.75 million WoW subscribers in Asia only bringing in 6% of the total worldwide WoW revenue then I have calculated that in terms of “real” subscribers the Asian market is the equivalent of approximately 370, 000 U.S. and European subscribers who pay to play by the month. Combine this with the actual numbers of U.S. and European subscribers and you’d have an adjusted total of approximately 6.12 million subscribers playing WoW — not the 11.5 subscribers that they claimed in their last press release.
While if this is true if it does cost 5 million to make with 40 dollars to buy thats 40 x the 5 million that are going to buy the game when it launces so thats 244,800,000 million. I dont know about you but if i knew how to develop something that was going to make 239.8million dollars worth of profit. And they arn't raping there player base.
And 6.12 Million x 15 = 91 million dollars A MONTH!!! and they still arn't raping??!!! COME ON WOW PLAYERS WAKE UP AND BOYCOTT THIS DAMN GAME FOR 6 MONTHS I GUARENTEE they drop the price on the subscription for Western Markets and Lower the price of these damn expansion packs where they are still making a killing on.

We are having same reactions for years now, and yet it always turns out to be true. Don't wanna believe? fine. Why not just wait till 2013? lets see if your WOW killer arrives on time.
It should be more like free but seriously no more than $25. People used to laugh at those who paid $50 for a game and then paid a monthly fee to play it. Some people have shelled out quite a bit of money to play wow over the years, when you look at it like that. If they can sell my little sparkle pony's and make 2 million in 2 hours then maybe they should make another sparkle pony or 2 and release the expansion for free.

It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.
yep! seeing new water effect will bring me back thats for sure im always staring at the water in wow(sarcasm)
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
The wife and I left WoW in Jan and I'm not sure cata is exciting enough to warrant a return. I might wait a month or so and log on to vent to see if anyone from the old guild is enjoying it.
They are still charging http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=66710 //

for WOtLK 40 bones.

"Mr. Rothstein, your people never will understand... the way it works out here. You're all just our guests. But you act like you're at home. Let me tell you something, partner. You ain't home. But that's where we're gonna send you if it harelips the governor." - Pat Webb
