Finally some news on Mortal Online, as Maerlyn made a post also introducing a new section to the ‘Game Info’ part of the official website with intent to keep us up to date on the team’s current progress.
“This is where we will keep you, our customers and everybody else who is interested in MO’s development up to date on what we are currently working on. Keep in mind that this can never be a definite list, as timelines can change anytime of course, but it gives you a “look behind the curtain” as to what to expect in the near future.”
Some other details from his post:
April build and release content:
· Update of Unreal Engine 3 and Atlas to latest build
· New network structure (fix for desync)
· Large optimization on server
· New monitoring tools (anyone using any hacking program or similar not allowed third party program or tools will be instantly permanently banned, anyone altering or hacking game files in any way will be instantly permanently banned)
· AI update
· Weapon & armor balancing
· MassiveLOD and sublevel optimization on many areas for better client performance
New content:
· Lore, a short description for each race
· New creatures added
· Creature population better adjusted to the environment
· New horse mounts (each with their own stats)
· Several new locations (caves) in Myrland
· City optimization where it’s most needed, most buildings now accessible
· Tower in Fabernum now accessible
· All new dungeons/caves have gotten a face lift to show the capability of future graphics in MO (still no high res textures yet)
Small patch shortly after April patch:
· Murder Count system updated with a short term and long term counter, one for Red Flag status and one for Stat Loss status
· Several updates to Thievery
· Bug fixes
It's good to see that we're back to where we’re used to with these guys, who've normally been at least above average in developer/player interaction.

but still not even a hint on release date, as in "1 month", "5 months", "no clue".
The game still needs work.
I think development news is better than release news right now.
No need for another game to rush to 'completion', and then be deserted by a playerbase that realizes they're just playing a paid beta again, heh. It's a pretty bad trend of late in small development teams, so really I just hope this is the game that decides to release complete enough to pull in the amount of players a sandbox mmo like this needs to really be as fun as it could be.
Well this is the official thread for the patch that was intended for this month. Just bumping it so that it is above the two threads that got closed.

and

Just as well since both of those were starting to stray off-topic. Please post complaints/ concerns etc about what was proposed for the April patch here and feel free to start a new thread or refer to another thread on the topic if you wish go back to the direction either of those threads were headed. (e.g. there already is a thread about monthly subscription charges and one of the threads was clearly headed into a discussion/ argument about that)
I have been playing the free open beta. the paid beta is over. it's open free now.
Hopefully 5 months. I want MO to be cooked Well Done. I've just seen too many games that are unfinished that just die on the vine after 90 days.
