Only title i could think of without saying GRIND!!
Anyways, anyone think that this game could be SOOO much better with a little more grind (but its opitional) like when u go to a quest guy, it says would you like more monsters or to do the normal quest with low monsters?
I dont know just so GW could keep me a little more busy then the 25 missions is going to.. and for all the grinders out there (i am one to a certain extent)
Im not saying i want to grind to be the first one to hit 20, that in my mind is like "stats" in another game... its useless, but i like to kill things, like during missions, WTF is the fun of doing FedEx quests, killing animals is the fun part... and imo i think there should be more quests = rewards not lvls for those who like to grind but no so good of rewards that u are gunna pass people PvP (cuz i still like to PvP).
BECAUSE, PvP is fun and the casual gamer is cool, but what about the non casual gamers who play for more then 2 hours a week, we will finish this in maybe 2 weeks including all quests and lvls... so i mean maybe add the more content, PvE "grind" without the reward of lvls, with the reward of items/more missions <--- which leads to armor, weapons, rare skills/anything not lvl rewarded because it means nothing...
basically more content is needed, because it was said there will be 25 missions on realease... UHHH am i the only one who knows this or is everyone fine with it? because to me i finished 2-5 missions a day on a "casual" (2 hour) day, but in a full day i raised 7 lvls and finished 6+ missions (not the begining)
so i think more "grind" will be good, and even if there is >NO< reward but to farm items, i am cool with that because i will have good armor and enjoy what i enjoy in what is a good game, because unless the PvP turns from arena to free for all, im gunna get bored mission after mission, but not easily maybe, so this is more of a backup (please do something to avoid bot usage if this gets any action)
EXAMPLE: you go farm at a special area where all breeds of monster are... you kill to get everything you need well u still need a special linen or something, well this is were u can keep doing it without entering mission to do it.... basically like a grinding explorable area to farm, grind, and basically explore... lol
^BUT^ you would get NOTHING to give you more health stamina or anyting that would advance your character (and you have to be a NON PREMADE character to get acess to... lets say a portal gem)

wasn't this on ign boards?

that sounds too easy i like how gw is now i just wish scales and linen were more common =/ too bad you can't craft linen any more
i can see content lacking afterwhile probally for me about 1 month i will hit a point past the climax of my fun i just hope they implement new stuff during patches and not all the time thru expansions which take 5-6 months
I think one of the bigger reasons Guild Wars appeals so much to people, is the grind thing is not nessasary. It's there if you want it, I did it during several of the past beta weekends. It's overall design is to take your mind off of the grind and back where it should be, the game, and enjoying it. GW will appeal to ALOT of people, the casual gamer can still have fun and at their own pace, as with the hard core gamer. PVP was a blast and you get so drawn into it, and focused on the battles, and just having some serious fun, that you forget about levels, and stats, etc... The group based missions can be huge fun, and leveling is just a perk, and can easily be forgotten about!
I also see a bit of a flaw in GW's current set up.
I'm sure it will be ok for me (I'm a casual gamer, and also split my time between other games), but as for the more 'hardcore' types, I foresee nothing but complaints about content being the number one topic of discussion mere weeks after the game's release.
Now I know GW currently holds it's PvP as it's trump card right now..but the vast majority of people who think that the PvP will hold them over have only been able to play the game one weekend at a time. Given this, when the game goes live and you can play constantly, how long will the PvP actually hold people's interest?
Then again, it's not like they need to worry about holding on to people's subscriptions or anything....

Grinding sux plain and simple, why should i have to kill 50 little creatures an hour to become tough enough to do the next quest?
The good thing in Gw is that you dont need to grindup levels, plus only 25 quests to start with, what about all the side quests? and just simply expolring the GW world is huge. and if after all that you get bored with a charcter, then start again with a different character and relive the game again from a totally diffferent perspective, the sheer volume of skills and profession combos will make GW last for months
oh thats right i forgot about someof the quests not the mission quest but i have never done those quest in the major cities ever nor in small forts scattered all over the map even to the places i haven't been to yet
There are LOADS of quests that exist in the game. There aren't just story-based quests that once you hit the end, you are done. There are many many other quests, such as delivering a message to person "X" who takes it, and asks if you could retreive something for them. So you head off to retreive it, and you encounter another NPC who asks if you could rescue his family member that was taken.... there are quests that start a long trail of quests you can do.
And you have to remember one main point. The game is called Guild Wars. Not solo wars, not "so much content, it becomes watered down due to time constraints." The whole idea of the quests are to get you leveled up to level 20 quickly, so you can get in on to the interesting parts of the game (hence the title). This game wasn't designed around incredible solo play with years worth of story-line gameplay. It was designed for "Guild Wars." As is PvP and GvG combat. This isn't a traditional MMOG, so if you are expecting a traditional game, you will be really disappointed, and complain constantly. Better just pack up and move onto a more traditional game that has all the boring elements this game has removed. This also applies to crafting, trade (except on a basic level), level grinding, kill stealing, and much more boring and irritating aspects of a lot of MMOGs. Remember this as you ponder if Guild Wars is for you.
Yup exactly.
Like he/she said its not so focussed on pve as pvp. It does have some and just exploring the solo areas is fun enough for me plus I do the missions more than one time because they are still just fun as hell. They can go many different ways depending on the party
That beign said I like grind and tradidiotional mmorpgs sometimes and will probably end up playing WoW as well. I was thinking about EQII but from what I hear I think I would be better served in playing WoW.
Agree to 100% There is allways a possibility u may manage to create a even cooler char the second time as u then know more about the game

LMAO But u Can...Atleast last Beta...
Just go out and Explore some
I Won't tell ya where but let's just say there is a Lonely girl crafting Linen for ya in the middle of nowhere (Exploers know )
So to those who say this game will loose intrest...Well don't all games do untill there is a "Upgrade pack" or "Mission pack" to ad on ?? (Except games like Fallout2 where u find new Comedy every time )
So an Advice to all u Guys who r Sad over "Missing" Crafting materials.... Grab your Friends (or Henchmen) and go explore some...I know guys that didn't even know there was a Crafter at the Sanctum Cay just because they never left the "safe spot"
Also there is some cool guys out there when u explore , monsters like Bonedragons,Minor Bosses, Minotaurs, Hillgigants and some decent drops even if u solo with henchmen (wich i in some cases feel = less good drops)
Sleipners Shop
You guys are dodging around the point. I reiterate: How do you know GW's PvP is going to stay as interesting as you claim it will be after a month or so?
U cant, at this time u can only speculate. i say it will still be fun, coz i seen it in other games like: CO. it never got boring

but theres not all pvp thats what we are getting at you can do other things than pvp once your 20....
To answer the question of "Will PVP get boring for Hardcore Players?", the answer is a virtual: no. Why? Well lets take a look here... most "hardcore" players in MMORPG games strive to be #1, the head honcho, the big guy on campus. Well, fortuntately for them, this game has a great little system called fame and rank. It's like a virtual competiton happening 24/7, and it has proved infamous for games such as Counter Strike, Warcraft 3 etc, that gaming with rank hooks the hardcore players like a fish. Take chess for example, it's a game that has been around for centuries, yet millions still play it every day, in and out. Why? Rank, fame and tournaments, the backbone of competition. Trust me, it will take a loooong time to burn out some of the hard-core players from wanting to be that #1 player or guild, it's just simple phsycology at work.
I stopped reading after chess to tell you this.
I am not a hardcore gamer striving to be number one, i am simply a gamer trying to beat the goal, but the goal is lvl 20, explore, PvP.
Well despite that i think they did a WONDERFULL job with the game, i think the PvP sucks, cuz personally i love free for all, not arena.
1v1 would be one of the coolest things ever too me. But it would be ruined when i figure out im goign to be massivley slaughtered because they are all lvl 20+.
Basically im not looking to become number 1, im looking for a good time with some friends and a game that wont run out in a month.

u may not of heard this but the game is called GUILD WARS
that means guilds fighting with other guilds. i rather have it the way it is then add some grind where its like ya im better then u at this game cuz i play for 12+ hrs aday where u play for 2 and i have all the best stuff.
the way it is u use your skill at the game to overcome the aspect of the game witch is guild vs guild battles theres like 6+ different guild fighting styles. witch are real fun. as for more monsters try playing the first part of the northern wall and when the hole charr army is chaseing u and u are suppost to run dont run and see if u can fight them all lol
