Preordering

KebeckKebeck Member Posts: 323

Hey folks,

Any word on the preorder program ? Checked their website and even though there's a preorder button, they're just saying that the game will be available online and in stores... So anyone knows if there's already some places where we can preorder or is there any list available of places it will be ?

Thanks !

I was just responding to the OP... I'm not pre-ordering this, no real need too. I'm sure my Wal-Mart will have them, the night it releases.

We do know the game isn't going to have monthly free... but that is about it.

Some people getting excited and swept up in the hype, and it's a valid marketing strategy to provide pre-orders to get more profit from people who otherwise might not play it if they get a trial (ala, Champions Online for one). Also, if they include in-game items, that's an added bonus. If they announce a payment plan people don't like Gamespot will refund it for you.

Yup, it's early... And maybe I've got in the hype train. But still, this game promise a lot, I like the way the company is treating its fanbase and I can't wait to play the game. Think those are legitimate reasons to promote and encourage a company.

I've tried several games, been in numerous betas, and I think APB has everything to keep me hook.

As for the payment method, I'd be willing to pay the good old 15 $ per month, so if they decide to come up with better plan, it's only gonna be better.

And finally, I asked the question because I couldn't find an answer anywhere.

Thanks for the replies folks ! Keep updating if you find anything else !

Cool. This company is making a good game here but i'am going to wait and see before ordering. I think the reason they are not ready to make that pre-order button work yet is because they are not finished making the game yet that or they are not sure if they will do some certain things. They are just polishing off good parts and scratching out parts they think won't be any convinient.

My thought exactly... The release date on Gamestop (thanks again for the link Lornphoenix) is June 29th. That's only 2 months away... Pretty sure the game will be push back seeing only one site taking preorders.

Saw last week they were giving away beta keys for some stress test. It's still closed beta but the game seems pretty much done from what I saw and they already presented all their crafting and customisation stuff.. So my guess would probably be next Fall.

Preordering an MMO is very irresponsible as a consumer. It sends the wrong message to developers that they can pump out whatever the heck they want since they already have your money. That is my opinion anyway. And I believe there will be a subscription option. It's just not "required" to play the game.

Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.

So is eating at McDonalds... You don't necessarily do it to send a message but just cause you want something good...

And I don't see any real difference between preordering or buying on day-one. The one I see is allowing a company to have more funds to keep their project going, finishing a game that might otherwise get launched rushed and incomplete. What's nice with MMOs is that you can always stop playing and (in case of a subscription game) stop feeding the cow.

And finally, who are you to tell me what to do with my money.. ;)

Bingo to the second poster here.  Who are these people who tell you the way you spend the money you earned is irresponsible?  We're on game sites like this one, reading editor previews, hands on and otherwise...  We are making a semi-educated decision based on what *we* like, not you...  Maybe we like getting Pre-Order goodies etc...?  Maybe we like early access...?  Maybe these things are more important to us than $50.  In the long run, the subscriptions on a game are more money than the box, if it is successful.

You make it sound like we are buying black rhino horns or panda foot key chains.  $50 is just not that much money to me.  I am willing to spend it on early access and unique items.  If the game doesn't meet my expectations, oh well, price I pay for getting in early.  I'll cancel.  You want to get all self righteous, get into politics so I can more properly ignore you...
