StarVault must be one of the most shadiest dev companies out there. Anyone thinking that the "Volcano" excuse is the main reason they still havent left for US are naive. Hint for you: the cancellations lasted for a week or so and they have been saying they are going to US for almost a month.

Agreed... This just keeps getting better.

Please learn the facts before posting like that. It is clear that the volcano lasted longer than some think:

In Sweden, the disruption lasted considerably longer.

Eyjafjallajökull erupted on March 20th.  Continuing volcanic activity caused a major ash plume to form on April 14th, which stopped all air travel in large sections of Europe (including Sweden). If  the programmers were scheduled to travel in Mid-April this required them to change that.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_eruptions_of_Eyjafjallaj%C3%B6kull

    5) Eyjafjallajökull put out another large ash plume on April 23rd further disrupting air trafiic throughout Europe. http://news.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474978192263

Henrick announced the April build the day before thissecond plume.  Its likely that at the time he was anticipating the trip to Europe  being made the next week, which then had to be cancelled because due to the ash plume.

Even a single day of disruption causes a significant backlog of people who HAVE to make the flight which can make it hard to schedule a flight even after flights resume.  Any plans that involved travel between Sweden and the US during April had at least a 30-40% chance of being disrupted (depending on the dates planned).  Do you have any reason to believe that their plans weren't disrupted by the volcano (i.e. they indicated the trip would be  on April 3rd) ?

It really has nothing to do with fanboism IMO. As its an issue of communication really, they could have annouced a delay if there was one, but they didn't. Instead they carried on with what ever they carried on with (which wasn't going to the US as was expected). As for when they were supposed to be in the US, I don't recall that ever being stated, more or less they left that part blank.

They only said they'd be going to the US and were attempting to meet their planned release window. Which the trip possibly could have been scheduled around the time the delays hit. Thats not being a fanboi, its stating a possible scenario. Which is what they are saying happened.

Why should I not believe that happened? When they announced a coming trip to the US in april, and air traffic was disrupted throughtout april, within the country they were leaving... Unless of course Henrick caused the erruption, in order to have an excuse.

Easy, soon they will call them unethical for causing the erruption! lol!

Yeah, I do not see the point either. Why lie about something that obviously could get checked up (if the volcano was not active throughout April, I doubt they will say it was just to lie about this).

Why not focus on the good part here; they are finally there, and can start working on the issues so WE can play the game with better experience! Now, that is a fact worth discussing!

    4) Henrick announced the creation of an "in development" section on the forums http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/838966-post7.html   and announced the plans for the April patch  http://www.mortalonline.com/content/under-development on April 22nd

    5) Eyjafjallajökull put out another large ash plume on April 23rd further disrupting air trafiic throughout Europe. http://news.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474978192263

    6) Starvault had their annual shareholders meeting on April 29th. http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/41321-summary-party-stockholm.html     http://www.aktietorget.se/NewsItem.aspx?ID_News=54743&Language=2

They may not have realized that they would be unable to send programmers to Epic until 6 days before their annual shareholders meeting.  It would probably be considered bad form to post that kind of information on the internet before notifying the board, thus the apparentlack of communication.  Of course, I'm not sure that matters to people who make the assumption that saying you will be doing something in April means you will do it "long before" April 14th.

P.S.  to brostyn:   Technically the volcano started erupting on March 20th. The initial ash plume started April 14th.  The volcano never exploded; it's still there. What exploded was the magma (or more specifically the gases dessolved within the magma),  There were explosions on both March 20th and on April 14th.

As I stated above. This is Henrick's original quote:

"We will also fly some of our programmers to the US where Epic Games are located to work within their team to get their fully support on our game and update of the network structure in an efficient way other than distance cooperation. This will improve the speed and quality of us going into the latest build of Unreal Engine and the network solution which should eliminate most of our current issues, both in performance and network wise."

Henrick also later said that the merge was complete and they were currently testing to see what broke.

Again,  when you list the reason for your trip to the US as helping the speed and quality of the transfer to the new version of UE3... and then later say that you have merged... a logical asusmption would be that youy had already made the trip.  Now I know his new message give new and different reasons for the trip, but clearly the update given in March discusses how being onsite with EPIC would help with the speed and quality of the transfer to the new version...

PS: The "April patch" mentioned above never happened in April....

PPS: Notifying the board of a delay before announcing it.. umm.. OK... maybe... but does it really take 2 weeks to inform 5 people?   Whatever... EVENTUALLY the game will ship and then forum debating will be irrelevant as the game will have to sink or swim on it's own mertis.   Speaking of which, they STILL haven't given an update about their plans to ninja subscribe folks that pre-ordered in July 2009 before there was any subscription page to choose or decline.  At best though that buys them a month of subscriptions and then people will cancel.  IMHO the fury at that point will be immense.

When their plans to work with Epic got dirupted, they may have decided to start on the tranfer before working on the desynch issues rather than waiting an unknown amount of time before they could reschedule the trip.

I'm not a Swedish corporate lawyer, but I'm pretty sure you aren't either.  There may be some legal obligation to disclose such information publicly (i.e. annual shareholder's meeting) before discussing it in forums that the investors don't follow.   Truly, it doesn't take much to notify the board, but it was the annual general meeting, so the information was meant for release to all 400+ stockholders.  http://www.aktietorget.se/QuotesInstrumentInfo.aspx?Language=2&InstrumentID=SE0002149369

     Cryptic did it with STO.

They mentioned having 1 million registered users in reference to its beta and pre-release announcements.

With Starvaultsd track record they cant afford to make misleading statements like that, especially to their investors.

    I win!!! LOL@U

Unfortunately because of the volcano on Iceland, our trip to the US was delayed so we

have a slight delay in our schedule; this doesn’t mean we are delaying for a longer

period.  We now have our guys at Epic Games this week so we can get back on track with our release.      http://www.aktietorget.se/pressdocs/StarVault/54785/STVA%20B%2020100504%2012.pdf

Can we put this thread to rest now ?
