    Well there would be an instant following of a thousand people or so.

    Yknow I surprisingly experienced the same thing.  I began to look around and become even more inherently dissatisfied with my life.  It's funny too, because I used to get the same thing after coming down from an EQ high.  The colors is the biggest thing--the world doesn't seem as vibrant as animations do, nor as fast paced, nor as exciting on a day-to-day basis.  After playing EQ for 30-40 hours in a sitting I'd fall asleep to wake up to do the same thing--real life kinda became, dull.

    Sorry to rant--but it's just so odd.  I thought I was the only one thinking that after watching Avatar.  It's a bizaare sense of self-loathing.  I shook it in about a day or so--but then it became more of a jealousy feeling o_o.

    Well if they do make an mmo, it's an easy way to get rid of a bunch of nutjobs all at once.

What do you think? And who should develop it?  Heres hoping!!

    they've already got two factions, the blue guys and the humans

    it would work or I should say it would have worked

    somebody should have thought of this and made it happen

    too bad, coulda made a lot

    as of now i will of course no buy the single player since i focus on mmos

    Just when you think you have all the answers, I change the questions.

    I just saw the movie, absolutely one of the best movies i've ever seen.

    But as many has said before me, an mmo today about avatar is unrealistic, and it wouldn't do the movie justice, we would all be dissapointed, cause they can't make a world look like Pandora.

    I hope they will make an mmo based off this story, but not within the next 5-10 years.

    Then we'll see some REAL gaming! yeaaah.

    Na'avi all the way baby

    Movie was very nicely made and impressive in 3D, but story was as generic as possible. So yeah, technically very impressive and visually stunning. But the story. Lol. There is hardly enough lore to use for a MMO. Oh, wait that didnt stop MMO companies before, so forget what I said :p

    Have fun killing the Avatar equivalent of boars.

    i would never buy a Avatar game of any kind and i never went t see the movie.. because from the trailers and clips that i've seen i always thought that it had a very bad fake looking computer generated cartoonish special effects look to it...

    Since games based of movies dont really work out well .. If they did make a mmo out of avatar it would have to be very well done and immerse you into the game.. I dont know how the tech and non tech stuff would work out in pvp but im sure someone could figure somthing out :P

    It was one of the best movies ive seen in a long time!

    Matrix online could have been very nice if it was made properly...

    Avatar, as a movie, was seriously "meh". True, it has some MMO potential, but that does not mean it's a good idea to do this. Heck, I once devised a way, how to make Ghostbuters MMO work, when I was seriously bored. Does it mean, we need a GB MMO now?

    Truth is, IP MMOs (and games, at that) 90% of the time are just other games, painted different, with several important bits removed. No point in getting hyped for them.

    Now, where's my Discworld Online?

    EDIT: Couldn't pass this up. Ahem... How about NO?

    I hate WoW because it made my plush hamster kill himself, created twin clones of Hitler, punched Superboy Prime in reality, stared my dog down, spoiled my grandmother, assimilated me into the Borg, then made me into a real boy, just to make me a woman again.

    hm.. an Avitar mmo running a Crytec II powered jungle...sounds ..pretty

     Maybe if any of the currently available avatar games that the movie spewed out were any good.. name any gaming console or handheld device and there's already a bad money grubbing game for it. That doesn't really give me much confidence in an mmo, it would probably be just another money grab.

    ah, a discworld mmo, that would be interesting... though recapturing pratchetts inimitable style of humour would be... probably impossible..  nil mortis sine lucre.. hillarious..

    Avatar = film for people who wish cats were people.

    Hello Kitty Online = Odd cat things.

    Avatar MMO = Hello Kitty Online?

     Well, Star Wars MMO was made 25 years after the first movie. Maybe in next 25 we'll see Avatar Online

    Avatar: The Last Airbender would make a better mmo imo.

    its a simple yes or no..

    i vote yes, and i vote yes to give James cameron more money!

    A man that made millions see humans as we are from another perspective = priceless!

    A man with his crew designed Neytiri which miliions of boys and men fell in love with

    ewen though we all know shes fiction..  = abselutely priceless..

    But i dont see any game developer at the moment that would be able to pull it off,

    without being crappyfyed.

    ewen if crap, i would buy the box, and play the trial :D

    ------
    Playing MMO's since my first which was Ultima online, then Anarchy online. and so on.. ;)
    Now a days im very critical before i ewen bother downloading a Free to play mmo.

    Everything in avatar was stolen from other works of fiction. Literally not a single original idea in the whole movie.

    Also the war was short, it started and it ended within days. The cat smurfs also live in harmony with their world so those two things combined = no combat. The humans were driven off the planet so there would be one race.

    Nothing about this works as an MMO.

    I'd be 'iffy. I remember that I hated that game they had for the XBox and PS3. Absolutely terrible in my opinion. I'm not saying an MMO would be impossible, just that after a movie I'm never hopeful for a great game - always seems to be one or the other, a good game OR a good movie.

  • SmilisavSmilisav Member Posts: 1

    So, you would like to make Avatar MMO just another combat game, the same as millions of others?

    The only difference would be the shape of characters and weapon selection?

    I think the Pandora world offers the opportunity  to go far beyond that.

    Far above.

    To become smarter than just another stupid war game. To give you chance to explore, create, produce, combine, organize, survive, evolve, improve...

    Ok, combat should be included, but it should never be the focus of the whole game.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    For those who think Pandora is place to move from Earth: Earth is even more amazing than Pandora, but you don't want to live in Amazon jungle, Canadian forest, Siberian taiga, Pacific island, or somewhere similar.
    Play your life with others, not against them.
    Honestly, if someone made a Avatar MMORPG the geek in me would be unable to resist. But, unless the sequels turn out to be as good as the first (unlikely), then I don't think any producers going to take the risk with it.
  • AldersAlders Member RarePosts: 2,207
    I'd rather they make a decent movie first before an MMO adaptation is considered. On the other hand, perhaps the game may be original.
