Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

You guys are creating a monster

It's all about bigger and bigger, more and more. It's never enough to you guys, and you don't have the patience to wait for some years for things to shift.

And while expanding is good, sometimes there's a point where you've gone too far.

People want these gigantic Gigaflair worlds, where the metropolis of the main cities are so fuckin massive that you can barley find your way around or even enjoy yourself because it's spread so thin.

NOW IT'S CHINA WHO YOU GOTTA KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR, THE CHINESE ARE DOING ALL SORTS OF DRUGS SINCE THE BOOM OF THEIR ECONOMY, SO YOU KNOW SOON ENOUGH THEIR GOING TO BE VERY INVENTIVE, HAVE ORIGINAL IDEAS, AND PIONEER TECHNOLOGICAL FEATURES IN THE MMORPG GENRE.

IF THE JAPANESE CREATE ENOUGH MMORPGS, WITH THEIR TECHNICAL SKILL, YOUR GOING TO SEE SOME REAL COMPETITION BETWEEN THE WEST AND JAPAN, WHICH IS GOING TO MAKE THE WEST MAKE SOME NEXT LEVEL SHIT.

There are many Darkhorses in the future of this genre, which will create MMO's like we've never seen before.

Now the Koreans are pumping out MMO's like it's an assembly line in a factory, doll MMOGS if you will, plastic, lots and lots of plastic MMOGS, you know the koreans are bringing that next level shit.

If it's all about bigger, IF ITS ALL ABOUT RUSHING THE DEVELOPERS AND LETTING THE SUITS MILK THE CONSUMERS TITS, IF it's all about spreading the population so thin through Giga-flair worlds that the game is no longer much of a multiplayer experience but a deserted island, then your really letting the suits and the developers not only loose money through stagnant worlds, but killing a genre.

You have to understand, suits need money, luxury and homes too, so they're going to milk your tits at whatever the cost.

My gameplay takes place in ~7,500 seperate star systems

Maybe that's enough, but it aint too many - we want more!

That "monster" has actually been around for a few years now.

Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.

Getting lost in New York City... or a city named Gigaflair, though I've never heard of it.

clearly trolling. His first post/thread was prasing Smed for all his great things he has done for MMOs....

    Same.

I like less expansive lands but more content added to the existing (w/o instancing). Make too much land, it gets too spread out and players find it hard to get groups... for those that care. Too little content and it gets cramped. Quality is better, but lacking these days, and I’m not talking graphics. More epic quests, more mobs (not strewn around), changing and adding over time.

And rightfully so, the suits and developers are doing two levels - 1st level, try to expand the player base to increase the growth of the genre and the profit margins ( Which is only a good thing, yes we can nitpick flaws there but ultimately we want a massive population and a massive genre. ), and 2nd level - To create monster ''behemoths'' to satisfy our urge for expansion.

Now that's really not all there is too it, and it barely covers it, but Smed knows, Smed holds the key to this genres heart.

While that is so great of you to mention, we need enough players for a world with that kind fo gameplay to be viable.

So right now, it's all about growing the playerbase, now blizzard has been used as the strawman for those expenditures.

You have to let the foot breathe, and the hair grow.

As I said before, It's all about growing the playerbase ( Which is a good thing. ) and Blizzard has been used as the strawman in the grand plan of it all.

Kudos for weaving a Mr. Potato head analogy into a random MMO rant; I've been trying for years.

I think what he's trying to tell us is that if we add too much stuff to Mr. Potato Head he'll come alive and grow and destroy New York City which for some reason Mr. Potato Head refers to as Giga-flair City.

I suspect it's all a plot by the Free Masons.

Yep, I like MMOs that are MASSIVE, I don't like MMOs with little content. Why? because I am paying a monthly subscription on top of the box price. I better get a big massive MMO to play indeed.

Since you brought up potato's and i am hungry i figured i would share that i like my potato's fried with brown gravy. And the potato's must be a little crispy on the outside while remaining tender on the inside.

It's something about Mr. Potato Head facing a xenophobic threat from a giga-flair Asian mmo with breasts.

Yeh, I loved the milking tits part, too. Pure genuis.

I didn't understand anything else in the thread but I am gonna steal that phrase and use it whenever I'm in rant mode. My chuckling at that phrase even caused my wife to enter to my command station (er, gaming room) and now she is laughing, too.

I am half tempted to get a sandwich board made with the slogan...

"BEWARE! THEY'RE GOING TO MILK YOUR TITS AT WHATEVER THE COST"

You could wear it at one of those tea parties they have in the US.

    Regards

And something about how the Chinese are going to become creative because they're doing drugs now. Remember the huge surge of Chinese creativity caused by the Opium Wars?

  • SwampRobSwampRob Member UncommonPosts: 1,003

Clearly, the OP knows where he can get some of those Chinese drugs, so I'm asking if the OP would send me a PM and help a brother out.   They seem like a fun ride.
