There is a reason why WoW has cartoony graphics. Not everyone has a system that can handle Age of Conan, or Crysis. and I actually enjoy the game play and graphics more in WoW than the others, thats why I dont play them anymore. I hope they update some of it to make it look nicer but I dont want it to alienate some players cause they have an older system.  I mean hell, People still play UO in 2D!!!!!!!  haha

Personally I'd prefer more realistic graphics. Even in the time that I loved playing I always felt that the graphics were too cartoony.

And how long has LOTRO had better water effects? :)

I still say they should release a graphics-only "expansion pack" for like $30 that gives a massive upgrade to the world's graphics.

It'd probably be another 10GB on the hard drive, but I reckon it'd bring back a lot of their old customers if they upgraded it to be more like their cinematics (which is totally possible with today's high-end computers)

I am playing EVE and it's alright... level V skills are a bit much.

You all need to learn to spell.

Well does the more realistic water even make a difference. Get some physics in there where the watter flows and makes it harder to swim. That IMO would bring more immersion to the game than this crap.

Doesn't really need it. You already go considerably slower in the water than on land/in air, and I doubt they're going to make realistic water river/rapids physics when they've got so much other shit to do.

They need water flowage........ If i remember Vanguard did have it..  But yeah anyways yeah they could do other shit, but Id rather have more realistic water.

I think the new water looks nice, even in the original image posted.

I play WoW, so I can honestly make a comment on the graphics: When it comes to the 3D aspect of the game, they suck. Terribly. Take a look at boats or zeppelins - the 'ropes' for rigging are flat planes with a stencil effect applied so that the texture appears on both sides. They are not 3D in any sense, if you position your character just right you can see what I call the paper effect - the model disappears as if you were looking at the edge of a piece of paper.

However, WoW does have excellent textures. They are cartoony, but across the game world, base game and expansions included, they all have the same style and feel. So, the world meshes well all over. This is something that games with 'better' graphics fail at - even in the base games for many of the new-gen MMO's, going from one zone to the other is like going from one game to another - the texture styles are completely different and don't mesh well with the general 'feel' of a game.

So, while I do hate the visual feel of WoW, I do give Blizzard props for that, at least - its consistent and feels like a single world, and not several different worlds cobbled together. And... it's still better than, say, EQ2's clay characters.

New Pic of the day release, quite a contrast from the OP pic - looks great but i prefered the sky in vanillia WoW where it kind of morphed and changed instead of being a bitmap like in this.
