Okay, hello all. I am new to this website but have been browsing it for a couple years. I just recently joined the forums becuase I have realized a pattern when I play MMO's
I hop from one to another quite frequently, I have about 30 on this computer and i can't stay stuck to any of them. I'm going to list what I like in a MMO and I was hoping i could get some suggestions.
First off I like to grind but not hardcore grind, I like when you can put in 10 hour and see results, not put in 10 hours and have 15% exp, Sure if your max level but not at lower levels or even mid levels.
Second i like shiny things !, When monsters drop an item and it's BRIGHT YELLOW I get excited, The kid in me comes out. So I like when monsters drop good colored items, Not white and purple for everything, And not even a cool purple too, like a dark purple. I want bright colors and i want the item to drop on the ground when the monster is killed, i don't want to click on the monster, open up the item loot window and loot all the items. I want all that crap to fall everywhere
Third I like AOE attacks, If possible a game where when you attack something it's not only one monster focused, it can attack many monsters, like metin2. I love the attack in that game.
I also like character creation, When there are 100 other little me's running around it makes the game less interesting, something where i can make my character one of a kind, AION has great character creation, something like that.
Also i liike graphics. I'm not really into those anime style cute games. Though they can be fun sometimes i prefer not to spend too much time in them. So good graphics.
I like Lot's of classes, i Capitalized lots ! Yes i like lots of classes. I hate going into a game where it's just "Warrior, rogue, mage, priest" Then you ahve to get to level 20 to become a gladiator or a cleric !. No i want lots of different classes that you can be at the start and advance to even more when you level.
I like more PvE based games, I don't mind a good PvP but i don't want the whole game to be based on such.
With that said i like lots of different monsters and such, so i don't get bored. Change of scenery is always needed when you play 5 hours a day, I don't want to be in a cave for a week just killing one monster to get 1 decent item.
With THAT said, i want to mention that i hate games with the lowest drop rate of all time, Like Hey lets go farm leather shoes + 5, a month later, Your friends are all level 90 while your level 20 trying to get those leather shoes +5 from monsters that no longer give you exp.
Alright, I like different skills, Nothing too dramatic like Ultimate explosion sends the whole server to hell. But i do like them to be bad ass. Like, Dark sort of bad ass.
I also really like games with light and dark factions. Good battles evil type thing. I think it brings more meaning to the game.
PETS ! Yes i love pets, I don't like HUGE gigantic giants as pets, more like a little wolf, or an awesome pheonix. something medium or small that looks cool, and that i can name. Not one that comes with a default name "ZEPHYRUS" and you have to buy a damn name change scroll to change it.
With that said i want to mention that Item mall's are fine, but not if it's the highlight of the damn game, "Buy this if you want to be good" "Get that if you want to enhance your game experience" "Get a whole bunch of those and you will NEVER DIE !" No, Eff you. I don't want to spend my hourly wage on a free game, Sure maybe ill put in 20 dollars here and there but I don't want them reminding me that this game has an item mall and i should buy from it every 10 seconds with flashes on my screen and blinking lights telling me that there is a special in the item mall today.
Alright enough ranting about that, Since i am a pretty picky guy, I want to just mention that if your going to suggest a game make sure it at LEAST has good graphics, and good character creation !. I probably should mention waht im into as well.
MARTIAL ARTS. MEDIEVIL. FANTASY. None of that space real time shooter or fps stuff, though im sure its great, its not for me.
Also, If the game you are going to reccomend is hosted by some crack pot company, then no. There is nothing i hate more then going into a game and seeing a spelling error on an npc "Hi walcum to Fantasy !, i got quest for you it my brother he need help go find him plz"

Twelve sky 2n (SHINY DROPS !)
Metin2 (Good attacks and skill)
Aion (Great character creation)
Allods (Good class distribution and a lot of races)
Mabinogi (I like the dungeon system and the pets) (For some reason i loved this game once but i bought like 70 bucks worth of a in game plan and then it expired ina month and toold me to renew it, so i quit that shit)
Alright I'm finished, I know it's a lot to read, but i really need new games to play. I need new ideas ! Thanks in advance.

You're suffering from burn out. YOu can get burned out on anything. MMOs are no different.

I have played WoW, And i don't think I'm burnt out. I have been working a lot recently. This is the only week i have had off, Also i don't play often, i usually watch movies or am at my girl's house. Out with friends and such. Last year was my burn out year and i stopped last year and just recently started up again.
I'm curious to know what the heck you tried to buy, because the only "monthly fees" I can remember cost about $10,90 per month and is optional (doesn't block you from any content ). Aside from that, I don't remember anything else that expires after 1 month....everything else is permanent.
I bought two nexon cards, with tax it came to about 70 bucks but the cards helf 60 on them, I bought a premium human card, a pet snake and a daily item givaway package for a month, basically every day i got a surprise item, usually some potions or some crap like that but the two together used up a lot of my cash, and the pet was a bit pricy as well. Then i logged in one day to find my card was expried and the item thing no longer available. I was also VERY FAT and my character looked like crap, (He was originally 10 and he aged like 20 years and was the ugliest thing you ever saw) i didnt want to put in all the effort just to get him skinny so i gave all my stuff away, and havent played since. I even forgot that account information, it was almsot a year and a half ago.
Haha, just so you know, if you rebirth, your character becomes skinny again. (You can rebirth for free once every 3 weeks now)
Either way, I see what your issue is. Definitively is quite annoying.
As for my suggestion, I would say Aion or Perfect World though I have no clue how grindy they are. I would not recommand WoW since you'll be raiding excessively for the sake of finding a pair of epic shoes....
I have a level 25 or 26 on perfeect world, I just don't like how big the game is on crafting. I also don't find the graphics too great, See if perfect world just scrapped it's graphics and used aions graphics then that would be awesome. aheh you can never get what you want.
Edit- Oh and by the way i remember the situation now, I had bought the premium human card and all that jazz for my human and about 2 days in (I don't know why) i decided to rebirth..... Therefore removing the premium human card from my character and renewing him. I had no idea that would happen if i rebirthed, and i was appauled. But i moved on, Now it's just boring to play, Mabinogi that is.
