I've tried googling it, I've read all of the 'help' in game, and I have tried messing around, clicking with the cursor in every area near the chat and yet I still cannot figure out how to simply chat.

I figure that I do not want to try playing at all until I know how to summon a guard at least because I do not want to get killed after figuring out how to kill something and then loot it only to find losing it on my way to the bank (which I stll havent found yet even though wandering around aimlessly for 2 hours . ..) just cuz I dont know how to summon a guard.

I think that I have had to reroll twice so far from getting stuck from a bug or starting in a random spot (why is that even an option?? LOL was my first experience).

How do I summon a guard. From attacking other people I saw them call 'guard' so did they type that or is there some other command?

So far I give this game a 1 out of 10 review . .. I am not going to go into the details of my first experience of playing for 2 hours after logging in but I basically feel like I wasted my time playing a broken game. I have been in many beta's before and have played some broken games but WOW! It needs a LOT of work . .. I am very open minded and want to give positive feedback but have non to give right now other than I like the graphics in the game.

I have looked through 4 guides now . .. cannot figure out how to chat still. Maybe I am bugged? grrr

Also, no sprint? Hoping that one of the books has it?

I was very disappointed to find that every NPC that I talk to just has a bunch of book and that the cursor seems too broken to allow me to drag things without trying a few times. Any helpful pointers on essentials like finding the bank and calling guards or just being able to chat so that I can ask for help in game . .. any graphics/settings changes necessary to play (like turning off shadow in DFO)? I am not getting a lot of lag or choppiness but my in-game cursor barely works.

I haven't played OB in a hot one, but I can answer some of your questions.

1. For chat, I think you simply need to hit enter first, to open the chatbar, then type and send it with enter again.

2. Some towns are horribly set up, if you want good access to vendors and trainers, do Vadda or Meduli, between the two you'll find everything you need in close proximity, and it's fairly easier to find.

3. Just yell "guard" in chat if someone has a grey shield where their name is. That means they flagged for being a criminal. If they are blue, and you spam for guards, they will kill you instead. Never hit anyone or you'll go grey, but you can push people with the block key held while attacking. This will make thieves go grey if they stole from you, then you can call the guards.

4. Sprint is a book skill, yes. You need some prerequisite ones like Agility and Endurance first though. It works well enough with enough skill pumped in, as do most combat skills.

5. Tune settings down to where they are comfortable. Some people can run it hard, but I had to drop it down to minimum for my crappy 7800gt.

Thanks for the quick response.

Hrmm I have tried hitting enter, with cursor toggled and untoggled . .. perhaps it is my 'leet' keyboard? Seems that there are only a few controls anyways. Hell, I wonder if I should hook up a joystick? heh

I will try another keyboard to see if that helps.

The most annoying thing would have to be trying to navigate with the cursor. I wish it was more smooth so that I would not have to try clicking on a button a few times before the button is actually pressed (experienced this during character creation as well). I will try messing with out of game mouse settings and turn graphics down again, but so far nothing has worked. I guess it would help to know if others are having the same issue and how they dealt with it?
