expansion to eve and you put a screenshot with the old graphics on the post >.>

anyhow, there is a lot known about incarna by now...there is a shitload of screenshots and gameplay videos, and they even released trailers about it.

there was also a cool presentation about apex clothing at the GDC which I sadly missed :(

I also thought why DUST 514 isn't on the list, but then I realized its a new game and not an expansion...

Couple of reason you will never see a playable 3rd realm in WAR:

    1.  It would take a complete redesign of the core game

    2.  EA is dumping stupid money on talking Wookies....With EA's stock price and balance sheet I doubt they are going to give Mythic money needed for what would be required (world redesign, 9 new class's, game balance, ect given there track record.

    3.  Given the current population that if various WAR forums are to be believed finally has stabalized this would destroy what little community and realm balance that they finally achieved.  To many existing players would move to the new shiney.  I realize Mythic has never thought things through but if they do not realize messing with the balance they have after finally stopping the bleeding after over a year they should not be in the MMO business.

I would like to see a modern graphics update for UO never gonna happen but neither is some on this list.

Used to be I would have said a Velious expansion should have been included in the list for EQ2.  But given how disappointing the last two expansions have been, it probably would just turn out to be more islands in the sky.

And how I wish they'd have an expansion to rejuvenate DAOC!

All I am going to say is we don't need to fix the games, we need to fix the gamers. The Gaming community is filled with childish trolls now. It's not like back in UO's , EQ's and AC's Prime. Where the gaming community was in it's Prime. The Games themselves can't make them epic on their own. They need a good strong balanced community. I remember my days of raiding in EQ. When our guild accomplished something wether it be Time or Tac'vi, the community congradulated your guild. Your guild as well as your self got recognition. You smash a raid down in WoW and does it mean anything? No of course not. Because anyone can do it. Now vanilla wow may have been a little bit differnt, I only played about 4 months of vanilla wow got  undead rogue to 56 and went back to EQ until the population was just no longer there.

Off the topic but I believe a perfect game would consist of the following.

    1. Housing system like - Star Wars Galaxies

    2. Combat mixed between - EQ and D&D Online - By this I would prefer make me prepare up to 8 or 9 spells and click to swing for melee. Auto Attack is boring and having every spell on you screen is just well...cluttered. "Would like to see the actual game not how many spells i can have on my screen at one time.

    3. Mobs that have a chance to kill you. I hate how in games like WoW I can kill 2-3 mobs without even tring or worring if they can kill me. I want mobs like in EQ and AC.

    4. Zones - As WoW's open world is neat. It makes it for some places to be really small. I would like a Vast plane to explore when in each specific area.

    5. Maps - I would like maps to be something your character creates as they explore. I shouldn't automaticly know where everything is if my character has never been there.

    6. Grouping vs. Solo - Personally I think that we should all be forced to group to accomplish anything but with the community for games the way they are now-a-days it's like grinding your teeth with sandpaper and granite to be in some groups.  Anywho I think that with zones there should be solo area's which offer solo xp and then grouping area's which drop better loot, give bonus xp for being in a group and more challenge mobs with titles and other things of that nature.

    7. Tradeskilling and Bazaar - They should do it like SWG. Make it to where we do a search find item and go to players home. Why? you ask? Because like in SWG alot of players spent alot of time on decorating their homes. Whats the point in decrating if no one is going to see them, and for Tradeskilling I think a simple Merchant class that can only tradeskill and gather items .  Could give merchants the ability to haggle with mobs to avoid combat so they can pick this berry or whatever.

    8. Age Restrictions - I don't believe anyone under the age of 21 should be allowed to play MMORPGs.

    Kick to the Face.

A third realm wouldn't help War. That would be like building an addition onto a burning house. I don't think they have the resources to create a third realm now and I will be highly surprised if there is a payed XPac for war....

DAoC and SWG was my favorite MMO's so an upgrade to DAoC would be nice!  I beta tested LotR and couldn't get interested enough due to them only having the good side playable, so adding the dark side would make me give that a try also.  Warhammer having a third side would also peak up my interest as long as they have the answer for their end game which was mostly a lag fest.

    This is very good article!

I'd like to see WHO and WoW new expansions.

I think LOTRO should get  The Forces of Mordor. It would be more interesting if this game will get a PVP

And finally wich races should they fight , here is my list:

Lizardmen would be against High & Dark Elves

The Ogre Kingdoms would be against the Empire & Chaos

Wood Elves would be against Dwarfs and Greenskins.

It would be more logical to break up the fragile destruction faction for good. Change it into Chaos and greenskins, give Chaos Skavens and greenskins trolls to balance up them. There is really no lore that supports destruction anyways even if greenskins at times worked with chaos for a certain goal. And yes, you could add some wood elves if you want a new good race too.

Skavens are a lot better race to add then the lizardmen, they always had a certain place in the lore and would be pretty fun to play. I see a lot of nice warpstone related quests. Beastmen would be a alternative that also would work well with the lore.

They would also have to add a city for the orcs and preferably some larger villages for each of the other races, it is a lot more fun to defend a fortified village than a keep and easier to give nice benefits for having the village up and alive. That would make the endgame more fun without adding all the mythical cities they assured us were almost done but wasn't polished enough to launch with the game but were to be added soon (yeah right, Barnett). Make it possible to destroy a village and make it possible to siege the city once all enemy villages are destroyed. Some kind of rebuilding effort should also be added. Then the endgame would feel more like you actually do something instead of taking and retaking pointless keeps.

But  WAR need this yesterday, every day they go on like before they lose a few players.

Brilliant plan - Undead for the the third fraction in Warhammer - now that would turn a good game into a great game.

I have always argued that not having Mordor as  a playable race was a BIG mistake. The whole PvE part of PvMP wasn't actually bad, and done with a subtle humour and great characterisation. It is not necessary to convert LotR to a PvP game, the PvP "lakes" exist for high ranks, just a few battlegrounds for the lower ranks and add the PvE for Ranks 1-60 (or whatever it is these days). Anyone who has played a Warg will testify, once you start eating those fat PvE hobbits - you just can't stop. Of course some city type invasion mechanics would be great, imagine running riot in Hobbits lands as a free range Warg pack.

I would like to see any update to LOTRO.  Lately it is getting so stale that most of our kin has quit and moved on.

  • PandinusPandinus Member Posts: 2

I agree with you, Loke666. WAR needs a big overhaul and that not gonna happen anytime soon.

First off, the game would have been better if they tossed out all the zones and just have a big "sandbox" world with growing forests, cites, towns and villages for players too roam around in and occasionally raid ( Greenskins FTW!image). Just a simple thing as having faction NPC's ( like the party you will have in TOR) you can command in endgame RvR would have been awsome in that kind of world. Also resources would be something too fight for, like for example the local Iron mine that will boost your villages supplies.

In my opinion of the the races I thought about the Scavens too, but In my mind they deserve their own faction just because they are so numerous and a serious threat too all the others races. Same thing with the Chaos forces and actually chosing between playing a Human or Beastman would have been good thing too.

When I think about it, it would have been better if all the races had their own factions.

Good article, my disappontment when Turbine announced that you couldn't play as Sauron's forces was great enough for me to not buy the game...and I have to say that I wasn't even thinking about that sort of thing when reading the article, but when I got to the number one spot I went "OH YEAH!"

Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

I played WAR on launch, and you're right, patching and fixing aren't going to bring back to the game the players who played through once initially and then lost interest. What I think would work is WAR2 with three factions, a better graphics engine and more PvE. Yes RvR can be fun, but to keep players interested long enough for enough players to level up into the final RvR endgame you need something more.

A big Lotro fan are we?

I personally really hope WAR gets an expansion, and soon. The game suffers with the old content, but if they can deliver what the fans crave in a potential expansion, I'd return to that game in a heartbeat.

  • malroth67malroth67 Member UncommonPosts: 66

God yes, so many people left Lotro because of Turbine's lack of interest in the PvMP zone.  The concept behind it was fantastic, except they never added to it, it became a small little zone with no real incentive to go there for freeps.  When Lotro was first announced they talked about being one of the good guys or part of the forces of Mordor,  they told us that it was still a part of a future expansion back in beta,  then they put in Monster Play and hoped people would forget what their original goal was.  Turbine can burn for all eternity for all I care, to me they are as bad as Mythic, bunch of liars, every one of em.

  • ZilverrugZilverrug Member Posts: 132

Truly developing and playing evil characters in LotRO? Doesn't make any sense...

That would be the ultimate theme park: either Sauron or Saruman telling you what do do and exactly how to do it all the time.

    Besides, stabbing hobbits is evil.

I have heard/read more than once, that a second faction in Lotro will never happen. Even if Turbine wanted to go ahead with said plans, the Tolkien estate that controls the rights to The Lord of the Rings, has expressly forbidden Turbine from doing so.

So, those of you holding your breath can exhale now.

    Your fail comment, failed.

I know it was mentioned, but... EverQuest 2: Velious

My entire WoW guild is made up of ex-EQ2 players that I raided with there. When the newest EQ2 expac hit we were all excited about it... leveled to 90 in the first week (exp was incredibly easy this time)... and discovered that this expac was a major disappointment. We want Velious, EQ1 style. No floating islands, no big, open 'dungeon' that is entirely soloable by an undergeared 90 wearing quest rewards.

Ring events, tough dungeons and epicly exciting dragon temples - ground areas that aren't floating in the sky - ice floes and frozen wastes - we want that.

  • AckbarAckbar Member UncommonPosts: 927

I agree 1000% with your #1. We need a city of villians style expansion. It would be crazy and rejuvinate the game and get tons of sales. People want pvp.
