If you do not know who Frank Frazetta is, it will not take long to learn about him. He was an American artist best known for his depictions of Conan The Barbarian. For some, Frank's work was as much a part of Conan as Robert E. Howards writing. His other major character, The Death Dealer has remained a classic fantasy image for several generations now. His work in comics and book covers remains some of the most memorable and thousands of artists were influenced by him. It is a sad day to see such talent leave this world.

R.I.P Frank, you will be sorely missed.
"Mr. Rothstein, your people never will understand... the way it works out here. You're all just our guests. But you act like you're at home. Let me tell you something, partner. You ain't home. But that's where we're gonna send you if it harelips the governor." - Pat Webb
Most unfortunate...Hail to you sir!
Mr. Frazetta was an exceptional artist and served as inspiration for most of the fantasy worlds we occaionaly inhabit today.
He had a good long run, and will remembered even longer. Rest in peace.
hear ya Sovrath. I'll pour a 40 when i get home.
"Never met a pack of humans that were any different. Look at the idiots that get elected every couple of years. You really consider those guys more mature than us? The only difference between us and them is, when they gank some noobs and take their stuff, the noobs actually die." - Madimorga
I loved the Molly Hatchet album covers back in the day when there was no such thing as CD's. I would buy all their albums just to have the covers he created... RIP
Frank Frazetta not only made great artwork but inspired many admirers to become artists themselves. One of my first drawings was the Death Dealer, up on his menacing war horse, his glowing red eyes staring out from the darkness of his horned helm. It of course looked no where as good as the real thing... lol
His self portrait looks kinda like the Punisher.
Oh man, this makes me sad. My favorite fantasy artist by far.
Guess I screwed the last one up, teach me to post when I'm drunk!
RIP Frank here's raising a beer to you.
Frank was an awesome fantasy artist and his work will live on in a lot of us. R.I.P. Frank thanks for the inspiration that we can find all around the fantasy settings today.
While its not like I knew him personally, his art was an old standby for me growing up. He and Angus McBride...RIP
RIP Mr Frazetta, you will surely be missed and fondly remembered...

RIP Frank. While I only knew of your work (Conan) and never fully appreciated the contributions to the fantasy genre, you were clearly a talented amongst talented.
That is exactly right, and we're not saying NO to save WoW, because it is already a lost cause. We are saying NO to dissuade the next group of greedy suits who decide to emulate Blizzard and Cryptic, etc.
We can prevent some of the future games from spewing this crap, but the sooner we start saying no, the better the results will be.
So - Stand up, pull up your pants, and walk away.

rest well Frank, Say hi to Rockwell for us
Frazetta was one of my artistic idols - its truly sad to hear he passed away. His influence on fantasy art was immense.
I'm pretty sure that second piece posted here (the Conan one) is not Frazetta's work though... it even has a different signature (Norem) right on it. Someone working in his style.
The Art History Archive link has the real stuff though - some of his best.
He was extrodinary. He invented a whole art style and way of looking at the world that everybody since him has tried to copy. His use of color and layout. You could always tell a 'Frazetta woman' instantly.
This man helped to define modern fantasy artwork. His influence will continue on.
Another one of the few true remaining artists gone from the world. He will be missed.
R.I.P Frank. What an insparation you were. You and your work will never be forgoten.
Rest in peace, Frank... You were an inspiration to many, and you awed us all with your art.. You will be very missed, and you will always live on through your art..
The king is dead.
Long live his memories.
RIP
Definately an inspiration to all fantasy artists.
He may be gone, but his art lives on forever.
