Sony/EQ log in complications.

avalon1000avalon1000 Member UncommonPosts: 791

The EQ2 website is really awful.  I signed up in the Sony Station and tried to log into the page on the EQ2 website and it would not log me in (even though I could log into Sony Station).  There was no way for me to download this game.  I will pass on this one and any Sony game until they can come up with a system that works.

Pretty much.  They are all about bringing in new customers while ignoring and shatting on existing customers and veterans and then milking them with cash shop like items and micro payments.  They buy up failing mmo's and continue to starve them with small dev teams and no marketing whatsoever so they can promote their station pass as this awesome deal.  Definitely quanitity over quality, and NO respect for veterans or long time fans.  Money is best invested in other games.

Honestly SOE may be a joke, but if you can't download the trial that's been available for more than 5 years with little to no issues to millions of users, my personal guess would be that the problem is you.

But ultimately, if you aren't interested enough in the game to figure out how to get it, you're right in not bothering.

millions of users..... that particular claim to fame unfortunately, is reserved for other companies..  SOE has yet to achieve even 1 million....

the solution is to download the station launcher, and then use that to install the game you want. there are several trials available.. just.. be aware they dont have a game that doesnt have population issues...

Honestly, neither you nor I have access to SOE's records.  But given that their subscription numbers have been in the 100-300k range for more than 5 years, I would bet you lots of RL moneys that they've had more than a million trial users over that time.

your grammar fails very hard my dear friend. (heh no offense though)

But seriously, I would only make sense that over the past 5 years millions have tried the game.

I truly cannot stand John Smedly. He is an awful visionary.

Why does it matter if the game has X users? If you can log in the game on just one server and have fun with others, what else matters?

On another note, I don’t eat at McDonalds either.

As for the OP, it took me less than 10 seconds to find this link.

I typed in Google search, Download Everquest 2.

Once at the site, the menu bar at the top where it says Get the Game select Reinstall EQ2.

Sony are bad at making web pages, true. But EQ2 is still worth testing. Screw the page, just download this file and click on trial for EQ2, it will fix things for you: http://launcher.station.sony.com/update/StationLauncher_setup.exe

SOE have made bad and good things for the MMOs, but so have Blizzard and Turbine. I don't like Smedley more than anyone else but it took me 15 seconds to get the URL to that file for you, their web pages aren't that good but they are not that bad either.

Could be worse, the web support for Mythics WAR to mention one thing.

it doesn't matter at all.  my point was merely that many (and i firmly believe the number is over a million) users had no trouble getting the trial working.

i agree with the dude tho!it has to stay simple if you got to go to forum or discussion tread on nuclear reaction just to find info on stuff you open your self to hack attack .its sad but he is right ,how to know the dude isnt enering his info on a private server

i mean at one point it has to be simple somewhere if it isnt player just wont risk it (i wouldnt either if i was them!)

more work for dev?dont start a company if you cant find good programmer!

I'm pretty sure I remember reading somewhere that FreeRealms alone had broken 1mil accounts.

If you can't figure out how to download a trial when millions of others have managed to do it, the problem is the user, not SOE.

lol.. the system works fine. Just yesterday two of my friends downloaded trial and today they bought the complete game. I am sure they are not going to change the system just for you.

I was able to download it from fileplanet.  I tried two different browsers with the EQ site and it still failed.  Now I find out that you cannot copy/paste password....sigh.   I do this to keep keyloggers from stealing passwords and Sony blocks it.  I will probably play the trial, but go no further.  Sony you could learn a lot from Turbine.
