Hopped on last night and played a bit... Won't lie, I had fun!  I thought I was burned out but this was actually fun.  And if the world is better then I'm pretty much sold.  I just have to decide if I'm going to have time to commit to a MMORPG.  Saw a few After Hours guys running around, I was playing with a friend at that time so I didnt bother joining the channel.  Moral of the story, the game actually seemed fun and didnt hold your hand.

The game world is much better but it is still "creaky". You might come across some chunking here and there or a bug here and there. The question then comes down to whether or not these are things one can ignore or if they are just too much in comparison to other more polished games.

For me they aren't game breakers but I can understand where they would be for some.

Hmmm, this is a tempting proposition alright. I live in Europe however, but I guess thats not that much of an issue. Shall have a fiddle about later and see whats up, haven't played in Years.

Wow, two threads to keep up with? :P

Okay, so basically, I am usually on during the day & night, however, I've started a new part-time job which takes me out of the house for about four-five hours on M-W-F. So, today is Wednesday and I'll be out. Hopefully I'll be on around 5PM, EST.

If you're looking for an invite to the guild, in game press "O" and then "After Hours", anyone on that list, if they're on, they can invite. On a side note, trial members cannot join the guild, its unfortunately not allowed in VG, however, if you do /join mmorpg, you can join our chat channel and hang out there until you decide to sub or not. :P

Like I said, I'll be on tonight, so if you need an invite, message Cyrsi, and I'll get an invite to you immediately.

To those of you returning, welcome back to Telon! Our return is going great, we currently boast over 70 members in the guild, perhaps 10 or so of those 70 are alts, so I feel like we're doing real well.

Update: So, it turns out that I will be on today, all day, and not tomorrow until later in the day, so... if anyone comes on that needs an invite, I'll be there!

I'll look for you guys tonight, wouldn't mind joining a guild of relatively new returners to VG!

I'm a eu player too, I've seen as much as 20 people online today, so it seems to work out well despite the time difference.

Who do I need to talk to outside of game to get an invite?

I've tried in game for the last two nites.  Nite before last only person able to invite was AFK for literally hours and never responded to tells.

Last nite there was nobody online to invite the entire night.

I talked to several people in the guild who said wait till tomorrow...I work days...so this is not an option for me.

II'm Khantos, the bloodmage, trying to get an invite and failing.   I'll try again tonite.

PS the mmorpg channel did not exist that I could see.  Tried this as well.

You're probably referring to me. I went out to dinner, got back around 9PM EST. Sorry about that.

I'll be on today during the day, but I have a birthday party for my boyfriends brother that I have to attend at 6:30 tonight. If you're on prior to 6:30 PM EST, then hit me up on Splinki, I should be around.

Otherwise, keep an eye out for Aimen, Glynyn, Vikin or Sovrath. Any of them can invite as well. :)

But I think you're wrong in saying no one was on to invite. Glynyn was on from the time I left till I got back, inviting people. I know Aimen and I have been on constantly. I've invited over 50 people personally, probably more like 70 people without any problems.

There is an mmorpg channel, it should be /join mmorpg (then you may have to right click your chat tab and enable it - bottom of list). Otherwise click ("O" > "After Hours") and see if anyone is on to invite.

I wasn't on last night but will make sure I'm on a bit tongiht at some point just in case. I'll make it a point to look for you. can you give us a time when you are bound to be on?

I'll doublecheck the mmorpg channel later today.

Thank you Sovrath.  I get home around 6pm CST from work.  I will log on asap and begin looking for you.

Thank you also for not telling my I am wrong when I said nobody was online; simply offering to help is appreciated.

There was another person named Zuor that was trying to get an invite but was unable.

They may have gotten in when I left the first time but thats another person that wanted in that I know of.

There was a third with a long named that I cannot remember.  It was not just me there were quite a few trying.

Here is a question, In WoW classes didnt really come into their own until around 20 or so.  In Vanguard do you get a good feel in the beginning or does it take time for you to learn if you like your class?  Also your post made me want to go download the trial tonight and play it, like you said nothing ventured nothing gained, so might as well jump in.  It's not like I cant afford the 10 dollar box haha, or digital download rather...

well, I have noticed that classes seem to be a bite more baked the closer you get to 10 and even after that.

For instance, I had a heck of a time with my dread knight trying to kill this sort of mini boss that you have to do on the isle (zalazz). However, once you hit 10 and get this spell that teleports you behind the mob it the allows you to better use this sort of drain/heal that one can only do from the back. Thereafter I could kill zalazz.

My personal opinion is by lvl 10 you should have some idea how a clas plays. But you know there are exceptions. apparenlty the ranger gets to pick between a melee ranger adn a ranged ranger at lvl 10. So there is that facing a potential ranger as well.

The ability for necros to harvest parts from bodies and graft them to their pets seems to come after 10. I would think that would be important.

IMHO, you don't really get a full picture of any class in VG until after level 10, some even a bit later on.

Would have to agree here.  Zalazz can be killed solo by hust about every class.  If you remember to use the riung.  It does Massive damage to him.

Say hello, To the things you've left behind. They are more a part of your life now that you can't touch them.

Okiedokie... My character is Dhurzin Felstone, a Dark Elf Necromancer. Right now, I'm still tooling around Hathor Zhi, working on low-level harvesting, crafting, and diplomacy. I'll probably send a game mail to one of the guild leaders when I hit 10. I can join sooner, but I'd like to get to 10 before getting into any groups. It'll give me a chance to reabsorb the UI, casting rotations, etc. before I make an idiot out of myself in front of an audience. ;) Give me a wave if you see me in-game.

Most people have this exact same problem. I've probably played 10 toons on IoD over the past month and every night I run into someone who doesn't realize the ring does damage. I know I died a few times myself until someone explained it to me :)

I was just thinking of subbing to Vanguard and then I saw this thread.

I'm not 100% sure if I'm on Seradon, but I will make new character if not.

Might take week or so before I can actually sub, but hope to see you in game :).

  • Death1942Death1942 Member UncommonPosts: 2,587

I joined the guild and I am having a blast.  Not even 3 hours off of the starter island (on my alt) and I was already in a guildie group farming spiders.

The guild is currently at over 150 members (it started just over a week ago) and it seems we are getting 2-5 new members per day.

Currently it seems the guild is trying to get a website up and running and is going to attempt to get regular groups up for dungeons runs (at all levels).

I may post some of these up on this forum to see if we can coax more people back to this awesome game.

One little note though, i was dissapointed to see the flickering tree bug is still there but it does seem that they have improved the performance considerably since i last played.

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
