That is pathetic, do they have no imagination?
No they don't, Bob. They want you to SAVE Imagination, not for them to have it.
The game is a neat idea, and I see it acting as a gateway to draw in people who wouldn't normally play an MMO. Those people may adapt to more 'serious' MMOs thus increasing the community. Although I won't be first in line to buy. I am excited about the idea, and hope to see an overall increase in MMO players over the next few years because of Lego U.
VERY weak pre-order considering the possibilities...
BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.
anyone would really play with virtual lego? cmon!
Still no information on pricing structure.

Looks pretty interesting, but I'm honestly a little sick of paying up-front for a genre that's supposed to make it's money long-term, via satisfied subscribers. Still, worth keeping an eye on, I think.
A Modest Proposal for MMORPGs:
That the means of progression would not be mutually exclusive from the means of enjoyment.
I guess the budgeted cash is running low, and it's time for more early-adopters to fund yet another game's final stages of development.
I was keeping an eye on this game just because I figured the regular crowd of miscreants wouldn't be interested in it, but this announcement just made me sigh a little.
lets complain about a ame that isnt out or you havnt played.. how do you think marketing works if they dont do things like this there will be no hype for the game.. see fallen earth and its issue of not being known by consumers and its restructuring.. its a great game for the the kids and you to play with tho
I have been playing the beta for some time now and very much enjoy the game. Though I will not share much details, it is very fun overall and has a different feel to it than other MMOs. I think it will definetly appeal to a certain crowd and certain elements in game make it very exciting to play.
I enjoy it and will subscribe once it releases, and as for the pre-order deal, really you are going to complain about free stuff? I remember that games used to not include anything when you pre-ordered, except the peice of mind that you have a copy reserved.
I am entitled to my opinions, misspellings, and grammatical errors.
While I understand you agreed to an NDA, anyone who isn't in the beta testing really has nothing more than those kind of vague hints and maybe some carefully taken video/screenshots to go off of. And that's supposed to be a valid reason to buy a game? Not that this game is unique in that respect, of course. I'm certainly interested in this game myself - I just don't buy games sight-unseen anymore.
And I remember when "pre-ordering" meant that reserving a physical copy only cost you $5. These days, half the time it seems like the company is either emergency fund-raising or trying to make sales before a plague of bad reviews comes out.

LEGO has plenty of money, so it is definately not because the budgeted cash is running low. It is simply a marketing ploy to create buzz about the game. Nothing more than that.
Typical NetDevil rush it out the door quick quick doesn't matter if it's halfway polished or not just shove it on out there so we can start profiting sooner. It's Auto Assault all over again....
NetDevil is 'just' hired workforce for this one. It is LEGO that calls the shots and they will not shove something half polished out the door. Their image is build on quality and this game will not be released until LEGO is satisfied with the quality.
They have a ways to go then unfortunately
But still Pre-orders At this point in time? Did they suddenly gain a monster dev workforce in the last week?
honestly.. I'm not sure, think I'll hold out a bit on this one..
I mean, seriously, most brand based games suck, but lego has the friggin midas touch when it comes to things.. The potential between lego and making an mmo is horrendously huge.. I just hope they did it right and thought it through when they made it.
