If you don't wanna read the article, it's about the lawsuit filed by Marvel against NCSoft, maker of CoH. The judge basically told Marvel that they are SOL as CoH doesn't infringe upon Marvels copywrites and patents. The case was dismissed. Hurray for capitolism! If you build a better mousetrap, you'll attract more mice

There is Justice in this world! This news just make my day a LOT better!
Marvel was trying to leech the hardwork of others, the next thing they would have sue would have been Crayola!
I hope Marvel have to pay for NCsoft lawyers and attorneys expenses! Can someone tell me if Marvel have been sentenced to pay the whole cost of this lawsuit as it should be?

that's kewl, I love marvel comics but I thought it would suck if there was no more COH even if I don't play it.
Marvel made the characters on CoH(-servers) & then filed a lawsuit .Judge said its a fake claim & dismissed it. Im guessing Marvel will pay unless they want to look like even bigger fools (not sure about us curt proceedings).
http://vigilante-club.1up.com/do/blogEntry?bId=3364264&publicUserId=5048614 has a funny comic regarding the ruling
http://www.etoychest.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=805&Itemid=2 different news report: "U.S. District Court Judge R. Gary Klausner agreed with NCsoft that some of Marvel's allegations and exhibits should be stricken as "false and sham" because certain allegedly infringing works depicted in Marvel's pleadings were created not by users, but by Marvel itself"
I'm a big CoH player first off. But I don't want to rain on your parade, the case is not dismissed, but over half the claims that Marvel is making was struck down.
The defendants have 10 days in which to answer and dispute Marvels allegations and to assert legal defenses to the remaining claims as well as to assert any counterclaims.
I'd say that this ruling took the wind out of Marvel's lawsuit but the beast is still afloat
your arguement is so persuasive, so filled with knowledge and insight. You back up your argument very articulately, with suggestions of improvements and raising examples to glorify your position....oh wait, you didn't
When I first heard about the law suit against NCsoft, didn't think they was nearly as blatant
of the use of Marvels copyright material as Priston Tale. PT has a level 75 monster named "Hulk" and
looks exactly like Marvels "Hulk". if you like...Have a look

I never seen the validity in Marvels suit and also glad judge ruled the way he did.
The Hulk is the form taken by the Hunkie when they are threatened
LMAO
Great news. If this case had gotten anywhere it would have set a terrible precedent. I'm glad the judge showed some common sense. Hooray!
I've always liked Marvel but this case was bogus from the start.
Congrats to the CoH team.
Many Korean MMORPGs just like to rip each other off, so that's not really surprising that PT followed suit. No offense to Korean Developers, it's just the truth from what I've seen. Very very shrewd and backstabbing work in the MMORPG sector there.
"I'm sorry but your mmo has been diagnosed with EA and only has X number of days to live."
CoH was developed by Cryptic, a San Jose Company.
NCSoft is the publisher. They did not program nor design the game.

I bet McFarlane, John Lee, and others are getting a big kick outta this one
