I'm just wondering if Khitai has steeper hardware requirements then the old zones. I have a Quad Core 6600, 8800GTS 512mb, 2GB Ram and XP. And although theres lots of lag included, I think my hardware is being murdered by beautifull areas of Khitai.
I'm just wondering how it runs on your system.
Also how can I minimize compromising graphical details but still gain good fps perfomance.

to help with FPS :
take off shadow and any other "perks"
if you still need to improve, reduce your view range a little
and if your still having problems, you'll need to turn off particles, or at least reduce them.
As to Khitai, many people were having problems, so they brought the servers down, servers in EU are up again, so fingers crossed they fixed it now.
edit, you can also try taking off 3D damage numbers
edit 2: sorry, was wrong, servers are still down :XD

Im assuming it has something to do with the larger more open zones requiring your draw distance to suck up more power. The older zones were much more closed in by the terrain and geometry, not so much anymore.

Ai yes: check your drawingdistance:)
Hope they soon build a computer suited to run aoc wiht all its whistless and bells!
I have apporx same machine
Quad 6600 , XfX 8800 gtx XT , 4 gb and Xp 64 bit and i had crashed 3 time in my first 20 min in and i dont had crashed anymore last 8 hours in...maybe only crashed because new zone loading ... now run well....they are maintenance now...probably better run after this shutdown...
Glad I'm moving next week and can't access online gaming at present, (crappy wireless right now). Then again this is why I don't do launches in the first place.
In two weeks stuff should be in order, as long as this isn't a repeat of launch.

The zones are more demanding for sure, they about double maybe triple the size of the old zones and they have more graphical effects, more detailed terrain, and what not...
I can run the game at max settings on my rig but it has some FPS issues. Max settings net me ~18 FPS. When I turn off Grass and lower shadows to the mid to low settings. I get 6-8 FPS more. Try that out.
I don't care about running it at 60-120 fps because I don't fraps anything. If I can get a steady 24 fps, which is what the eye can see smoothly, I'm happy.
Yeah, just by decreasing my drawdistance a little really helped alot. The new areas are huge in comparison to the old ones.
Yeah, my fps basically goes down by half if I compare a claustrophobic zone like Conall's Valley and Gateway to Khitai. Btw, SirPaco, those 3d numbers - where do you turn them off?
well I can't play there, crash every 3 minutes.

I can have with dx10 about 40 fps in Old Tarantia and 60 in normal areas, but when i traveled to Khitai i got under 20 fps with dx9, performance its really bad after hotfix, havent got any crashes or lag issues, only fps problems
