World of Warcraft: Cataclysm: Beta Opt-Ins Begin!

MikeBMikeB Community ManagerAdministrator RarePosts: 6,555

Blizzard has announced that beta opt-ins for the upcoming Cataclysm expansion to World of Warcraft have begun!

image

If you want a chance at partaking in the expansion's beta test you should head on over to your Battle.net account page and upload your system specifications as well as check off whichever of Blizzard's franchises (in this case Warcraft) beta programs you're interested in participating in.

Visit the official Cataclysm website for more information on the upcoming expansion.

[Thanks Chris for the tip off!]

It's kinda wierd how you guys know your computer specs off the top of your top hats like that, personally I find it easier to just know nothing whatsoever and go along with whatever sounds the best, like the rest of the sheeple. I gotta tell ya, ignorange is bliss.

The opt-in has been available since battle.net accounts were introduced. Nothing is new except for Bornakk telling people to make sure they are opted in.

My computer has exactly the same specs. I have not replaced a part on it since the 8800GTX came out.

It has turned out to be the longest lasting machine I have ever built.

I might upgrade my video card for Fallout: New Vegas... but I'm also looking at a whole new computer.

Three video cards?  Waste of money.

    Extreme-edition?  Waste of money.

    Why you do it bro?

SLI scaling is actually quite good, so no, not really a waste of money there. :)

However, yes, I would agree an Extreme edition CPU is generally a waste of money as it often just amounts to a simple base clock increase which can easily be made up through overclocking. Unfortunately, you cannot overclock four cores to six, and so this time it is an exception! ;)

Wonder how many fake WoW emails THIS new Blizzard "event" is going to inspire for the "phishermen?"  I foresee a new rash of hacked accounts....oh joy.

However....good news for Cataclysm folks.....your wait is getting closer to being over. Congrats. :)

That is just absurd. I'll be able to buy a better machine than that in 6 months for 1k$ when AMD releases Bulldozer and the next gen Radeon cards. Good luck when your Nvidia baconators start frying.

And the power requirements.....that rig draws 1400W while gaming.....and if you are using multi monitor....at all times.

As someone else has mentioned this has been on there for months (along with Diablo and Starcraft beta-opt ins).

Seems some people were not paying attention when they opted in for the SC2 beta?

This did have the happy side effect of me noticing a change in certain things which I had not been aware of but am downloading as we speak.....
