I'm pretty impressed with battle of the immortals, and i've seen a truckload of average MMO's released in the last few years.
Apart from the average translations, i must say it has more depth than most AAA titles.
The metagame in BOI is insane
The game reminds me of Diablo but with the all the MMO standard features and more.
P.S you can enter a special code to get a V.I.P pack of armor and gear that will last you to lvl 30 of the 150 odd levels lol

No thanks a top down mmorpg for me sounds about as interesting as cutting my balls off. Just my opinion but top down and mmorpgs don't go together. I logged in not knowing it was top down and promptly removed it from my rig. Worse yet I hear it launched without WASD controls lol. So the game could kick ass! Might even rock! I don't care not with those camera angles.
A man or "gamer" should look for what is, and not for what he thinks should be.
I agree, BOI has some good things about it but the camera angle kills it for me.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
I agree. Top down makes for a terrible MMORPG. I mean, just look at how much everyone hated Ultima Online >_>
BOI, quite simply has the most upgrade systems i have ever seen in any mmo, talk about metagame lol you can get lost in figuring out what item does what.
I'd trade that anyday for not being able to look at the sky.

Topdown and rpg's don't mix you say? You must have been born yesterday.
It's kind of funny reading these comments, BOI has a graphical style to appeal more to a younger crowd, but yet it seems like "older" gamers who used to play the rpg's like balder's gate and diablo are the only ones willing to accept it.
Yeah, Isometric/Top down view doesn't work. Hah. It obviously worked in Ultima Online didn't it? It worked in Diablo 1, 2 and 3, Titan Quest, Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age, the old Fallout games, DOS Renegade, get the point yet?
I've been beating the drum for a Isometric MMO for a long time now. How many people played Diablo 2? Millions. Imagine a MMO that plays like DIablo 3/Titan Quest. Are you serious? You'd be on the outside looking in buddy. That would be a massive hit. Blizzard would be fools to go away from the isometric syle that has made Diablo famous when they decide to make it a MMO. Fools I say!
mm!it isnt bad!i played it and close in the cam close to your toon and you ll see graphic shine a lot .it is a 2.5 d but its one if not the best one and remember you WILL GET THE SAME VIEW WHEN GO GO PLAY DIABLO 3!
You made me slam my head on my desk.
The greatest RPGs, even MMORPGs, have had an isometric camera angle. The WoW-generation is killing me.

Huh??? 3rd and 1st person POV where around long, long before WoW. I gotta give it to you WoW bashers. You guys are bitter!!
Did you even play MMOs before WoW, or does the hate just drive you to say silly things?
I agree. So many "gamers" haven't experienced the originals like Dragon Warrior, Breath of Fire, Final Fantasy3, ChronoTrigger etc. Sad.
Most of what the younger crowd play today are shadows of the originals. It used to give a kid bragging rights when he beat a game back in the day. The older games used to actively try to end your existence. Anymore the new games all have easy outs and perfectly scripted scenarios making it almost impossible to not beat it. God forbid they release a game that doesn't have a quicksave every 2 seconds so you don't feel like a failure haha.

I've been playing since the OB started last week. I've made it to lvl 42 so far and have a few other toons in the mid 20s. I have to say, it has a certain quality to it. Here's a few points that need to be made:
WASD was added to the game before release of OB.
Camera angles are "rumored" to be changed in the near future.
Dispite certain issues (mana/health regen, bag space) the devs are listening. I am currently playing with a guild who played through CB and apparently the devs are listening. They made a lot of changes/improvements before OB release and are actively working on many of the current issues players are experiencing now in OB.
Regardless, it's fun and has the addictive qualities of many MMOs. For f2p, it's pretty great. I'll be wasting my time with it for a while (until GW2 comes out *wink*).

BoI is a great game so far. Its rare that you see one of this complexity and depth outside of Asia.
Especially as a f2p.
One other thing of note: I am not max level, but many of my friends are pretty high up there. So far, there does not seem to be much pressure to purchase from the cash shop to be good in this game. Sure, it would make things easier, but as far as any of us can tell...EVERYTHING in cash shop drops in the world. Drop rates might be crazy low on some of them, but overall...everything can be obtained w/o cash shopping.

Thanks for using my code, i have about 10 people that use it, i'm supposed to get some sort of bonus or something, and all the people under me get a bonus when i reach a certain level, lol stuffed if know what though.
The Pet system is great, with all the upgrades you can get for them, and they also level with you. although AE's for the pets are bit expensive at 10 bucks, but make questing much much quicker.
Anyway the game is still pretty fun for a FTP, and i dont usually play them, let alone spend 190 bucks in them lol.
I gotta limit myself dammit

I first played this game in closed beta, got to lvl 20+, it seems ok to me until the scorpion-lord to dragon emperor arc, i was completely turned off by the storyline tbh and stayed off it till the day one my RL friends play it. Eventhough i dont really enjoy the game, the fact that my rl friends plays it makes it bearable for me at least lol. Anyways, now, i have two chars both lvl 55+ in the game, although i have not explored All that the game has got to offer, at the very least i spent good amount of time on it to decide whether the game is worth my playing time. For a 2.5D game the graphics are quite beautifully drawn. It gives me the impression that the devs really put much effor onto it, thumbs up for their good work. Other than that, things that i found interesting was the tech and pet system, it was quite complicated @first, really need time to figure that out lol.. I didnt craft a lot using the tech system, most of what i've crafted are just souljades, etc and as for the pet, eventhough it has a nice system, the ability to fortify, meld(havent really tried it out), boost, i've got quite a few issues with it(more on it later). As for events, i did enjoy the events(especially the dream lover or love match event, was a big LOL for me -_-) and the instances its just ok but im not really impressed with it cause i've seen much better instance in other games(more on it later)
Well even with all the pros that i have stated above, it is just another free to play game, theres nothing really special to keep me playing for long.
(1) Fortification, the penalising the player just because of his luck system is just dumb, +1(100%)--> 1 fortify crystal, +2(90%)-->3 fortify crystal[even on 90% i still fail alot of times lmao], somehow if ur luck is bad, and u atempt to +3 ur gear and failed, theres a chance that your gear might be destroyed or your gear being reduced to +1. Theres absolutely no reason why this fortify system is a good idea except that it brings much $$$$ to PWE. Failing means players buy more fortify crystal and any sane human being will think its a much better idea to spend a little dollars to prevent his soul weapon from being destroyed in the event that things turns out for the worst.
(2)Pet system boosting and fortifcation, pet fortification is the same as above except that theres no chance of ur pet being destroyed but still its only fun if u have lots of $$$ to spare. The worst part is the pet boosting system, if u use the magic stone of growth, the chances of sucess are quite crap eg. 20% but if you use an adult pet in rainbow valley(catching just 1 is a boring and time consuming activity), the chances of sucessful boosting can go to 90% but still i wonder if the sucess rates are really as stated(did fail alot, had to re-farm those adult pets and losing more gold in the process-_-) to make matters worse, if u fail, it reduces by 2 grades like +2 becomes +0, +3 becomes +1, the only Answer if u want the penalising system to be more lenient is to buy CS item-->catalyst of growth(in case boosting fails, it only reduces by 1 instead of 2)
(3)Inventory system[sigh], if your a non-cs user, you just had to live with 25 slots in your inventory bags or 20 slots in your bank, no matter what, you WILL feel the need to buy inventory expansions unless you had a good computer to operate 6-7 mules. There are like 45 inventory spaces in ur Bag window to be unlocked and one bag expansion wich unlocks 5 spaces cost 175 zen or 65-75k(ingame price). Lmao, more important than the needs of upgrading or obtaining gear is the Pressing needs of having a good amount of slots in your bag because as you go further, there wil be a lot of items you need to keep in your inventory unless you dont mind making several trips to the stash npc or disposing some valuable stuff just to free up some space.
(4)Instances, the instances are just stupid, first the map is small and second its just mindlessly killing off tons of mob like for example dragon emperor instance--> killing 40 dragon squire and 40 terracotta protectors and not to mention the stupid fact that heretics(the only healer ingame) cant even 'Ress' in case one of pt members Died. If you died, you either had to ress in the graveyard(durability reduced, expect 4-7k repair fee depending on hw many dura u lost) or pay '50zen' to ress urself on the spot. In every game i play, theres no such special ress 'feature'. Dungeon are meant to be hard and dying are normal(if it isnt hard and players die 1% of the time, then it wouldnt be a dungeon lmao) but exploiting that fact just to extract $$$ from players is a big turnoff for me.
(5)Storyline and quest, its just crap, i think its better explained in other post lmao. Btw, the quest is nothing more than kill X number of mobs, or killing x number of mobs to get Y items, the only variation is kill X number of mob in Y minute or get to destination Z within X minutes.
(6)edit: i forgot to mention bout the pot system, they give u free pots once per day, about 60 pots hp/mp(heals over time, not burst healing) based on what your level is. Okay, i've got a heretic and she does two instance, this two instance run is more than enough to deplete the 60 pots(u can buy pots off npc, but it wil create a huge hole in your pocket) that im given and theres no system to recover lost hp/mp generation just by sitting. In other games where i played, if you sit hp/mp are recovered at a much better rate. Yes, theres a healing npc but if you lost quite a large amount of hp/mp then the amount deducted by the npc is large too, lets say 500. If its once or twice, its ok but if u need to use the heal npc a lot, the amount just adds up lol.
In conclusion, this is just an ok game, although it has many nice and interesting system, the fact that the game is so toned down that the only way to have fun in it is to fork out lots of $$$$ is just a big turnoff. Think of it as the difference between windows xp pro and windows xp home lol.
You have to be very carefull with this game, it's very easy to get addicted to improving your pet, and spending lots of dough.
Some of the pets going around are insane, they pretty much do all the dps for you hehe

The pet system is almost like a separate game ^^ I currently have a level 58 slayer(level 56 zerker, level 51 champ), with a superb class level 31 bermuda gorgan pet(fort +3) which has more acc/evas than my level 58 slayer has ^^. Only problem so far are the grinding gaps in between weapon/armor tier sets(which seem to be getting further apart).
I can totally agree with you about the cash shop. I've had quite a bit of experience with Asian games like this, and this is the first one in the west thats really well thought out(some times fiendishly so...) in terms of intergrating the cash shop into most aspects of the game.
Demon Souls. lol
I'm still waiting for Intellivision Dungeons and Dragons online
Ahh the memories
