Longer answer: Upgrading an existing acount with the expansion will not give you 30 days free. However, if you buy the original game and the expansion (or even the original game) you get the new account owner 30 days free. You cannot upgrade a trial with the expansion only, you will need to buy the full game and expansion. If you buy the expansion OTC it will come bundled with the full game and 30 days and you will be required to create a new account. A digital download of the expansion only will require the full game already installed and cannot be applied to a trial client. In effect, ONLY newly created accounts get the 30 free days.
Thats exactly what I would be, just confused on why the boxed version of ROTGS includes the xpack and base game for 25 bucks, but trying to get it all directly through website costs 45 dollars, 19.99 for the game + 25 for xpack. Not sure if this is intentional or if i'm missing something here.
Pretty sure that to order you will have to sign up for an account. From the account management site you should be able to buy a digital download of the game+xpac, but I can't tell you the price of what that would be...

I just told you. Go over to the website and dip into the new account page, you will see it takes you directly to the regular Hyborian Adventures ( base game ) page. Lol no way am I gonna pay 45 total online for something that costs 25 at gamestop. Pretty lowlife method of doing buisness imo, i'm about ready to say forget the whole thing, I don't like trickery when it comes to things like this.
lol...here we go with the tin-foil hat stuff, already.
Ever think maybe Gamestop is just offering you a good deal??
Retail stores do that ya know....it brings in business.

Some people just get confused when they get an good offer. I would think that most people that bye the expantion from Funcom have the game an are currently playing. The box offer is a great deal for all the people that have newer tryed the game and would like to try it. (I got the expantion free when subbing for 12months in nov09.)
An to inform you the game cost 30dollars + shipping + taxes.

Can you upgrade a trial account with the over the counter version and get the 30 days free? I was planing on upgrading my unlimited trial accound which I have a few level 20s on and would prefer to not have to start all over again (only 20 levels I know but still).
Well that sucks. I thought I'd get 30 free days if I got the x-pac. Well I guess I'll pass on this one for awhile I'm not going to re-sub and buy the xpac and not get my 30 free, I don't have any toons past about 30 but I don't really want to start over. maybe if theirs a good sale I'll try it in the future but no free game time with the x-pac is a deal breaker for me. It smacks of getting screwed for being a vet.

Not sure to be perfectly honest.. I seem to recall that I got 30 days free when I upgraded from a 7 day trial to full game last year, but I would ask someone in the know if I were you
If you should happen someone else who's intrested in giving AoC a try - let one of you first create the account and send to the other one a 7-day trial invite. If you active the account afterwards you get a little bonus item (which is not really important), but once you buy a month of playtime you get one month of playing for free.

no tinfoil hats here friend, if the boxed version of godslayer+base game costs 30 bucks at retailers, then that should be the price for the digital download as well. The cost at the national retail chains isnt a "special limited time" price, its the standard price until it starts dropping in the coming months/years and the digital version should mirror that. It doesnt... so all I see is them pretty much screwing anyone that uses the website to buy the game.
So its like I said before, shady buisness. Do the math, by not updating the website to the new box price, they make an extra 10 dollars on every new account purchased digitally.
Well, whatever, man. I reguarly get games at Direct2Drive for cheaper than I would at the actual game's site. I get games at Walmart for cheaper. I get games at Bestbuy for cheaper.
It's called shopping around, man. These other sites and stores are trying to offer a competitive price, it's up to you to take advantage of it.
I just got LOTRO's latest offering of all expansions plus the base game last month for $10....they wanted $30 on their site. I didn't think "hmmm....this is shady", I said "damn, what a deal!!" and bought it.
But whatever, man. I just think you're reading too much into things.

Quick answer:
Game+expansion = 30 days free
Expansion only = no free days
