I'm playing DotA since a few years and if anyone made MMO with mechanics/fighting/collision system like Warcraft 3 got, I'd be certainly pleased.
There is a game called Land of Chaos online which is F2P and is pretty much a DoTA style game but you get full control of the heroes from a 3rd person persepective instead of top-down, its going into beta on May 27th and there have recently been key giveaways on massively.com and mmosite.com
As for an MMO that fits your criteria, the other day an article was posted about an F2P game called Crowns of Power. I haven't gotten the chance to play it yet because I just downloaded it last night, but from what I can tell from videos, it looks almost like a throwback games to EQ style or DaOC. So yes the Graphics aren't top notch but players do drop loot when you kill them, and there is an interesting system where you pick "Colors" for your spells which affect the types of spells you can get and then you can mix the spells together (Not quite sure on this as I haven't played yet), anyway there is an article at massively.com if you are interested.
i think you are right they used an older engine i dont think its eq1 sonce they just had that quality not long ago but the title made by ea back then in 2001 if i recall as similar graphic!
Well, concerning Age of Conan. I've read that it got no death penalty (2 min weakness or so), it's level-based, someone wrote in that topic that crouching makes you pass the other characters (?????) and it'ss generally nothing like UO, just another commercial crap for casuals.
About Land of Chaos Online, well it seems really nice, but from what I've read - it is not MMO Yes, your account gains levels etc, but it is room-based DotA clone, like League of Legends or Heroes of Newerth and I am not looking for MOBA, but MMO I regret that LOCO isn't one, it looks awesome.
Ermmm... and Crowns of Power. From what I see in this vid - it's nothing but another cheap standard MMO with ugly fantasy world based on "click target, spam hotkeys, wait, spam hotkeys, walk, click next" etc............ seriously, does anyone like it anymore? It may be fun when you play MMO for the first time, or for the second, but I'm bored of that kind of gameplay, I'd prefer something that requires more than being a vegetable with hands
I don't really care about how spell system works, if it is original or not, most of such I've already seen, tried and there was nothing yet that would make me say "WOW, THAT'S SOME COOL STUFF", there were just many generic wannabe-cool ideas that were flat and dull in fact. I'm totally sceptic to all marketing stuff with word "original" in it, most of them are just rip-offs from everything else.
I mean - even grinding may be fun if it would be presented and designed in a cool way. Like danger of being ganked at anytime. And ganks in most of games are either based on permanent stun/slow etc and the victim runs away, or you cannot gank anyone cause everything that's enough to escape is to hold arrow button - it takes 3 sec standing still to cast each spell and the victim just runs away smiling... damn, I don't get these designers.

ya i agre a lot when guild wars make you think that you have to react to foes attack be it a monk or a warrior
when we get these mindless turnbased game it gets boring before you can reach level 2!
I've just found some info about TERA Online. Seems kinda alrighty so far. Open PvP, death penalty, looks nice, gonna keep an eye on it. I hope its gonna have FPS-style gameplay
after level 20 and you leave the tutorial island, the world opens up -
full PvP, great classes, great graphics, day/night cycle that affects stealth, on and on.
this game has come MILES since release, and after the next expansion will be even better.

Age of conan .. are you serious? it has nothing to do with pvp criterias he asked.Pvp is worthless on that game even if you play on pvp servers and get ganked by higher guys
The PvP criteria he stated was:
-Open World PvP
-Skill based
-Chance to drop loot (in AoC its resources / various pvp items, used for the Shrines and getting MORE pvp xp)
-team based.
AoC has ALL of those things, so Im not sure what you are talking about...
-Not open pvp it is instanced pvp even in pvp servers
-Not really skill based after a week your hands get those skills and you just stand and hit like bashing
OP that was not a very good video of Crowns of Power. I have had a chance to play it since I posted and it is not half bad. Try taking a look at this video. And also you should know that by replying like such an ass to my suggestion you have made me think twice about posting in the LFGame forum any more. You make a post asking for suggestions of an MMO to play, I suggest one you probably haven't heard of, and instead of giving it a good look, you watch one video and tell everyone how much it sucks.
The way Crowns of Power plays with regards to using hotkeys to attack enemies is pretty much the way every mmorpg works. If that is exactly what you don't want then the question is why are you posting in this forum in the first place? You are obviously looking for something that doesn't exist, or DOES exist and is just not up to your graphical standards. It looks like you are just gonna have to do like the rest of us and wait until late 2010 or 2011.
lifer86, sorry, I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings what-so-ever, maybe I misjudged CoP. It doesn't look like anything that would keep me busy for more than half an hour.Errmm it looks like hundreds of other MMOs... that's just me and my opinion. I've searched lots of webpages looking for something similar to what I am looking for and still got nothing even remotely cool. I simply don't get it why people just copy the same style all over again, everything is so *standard*. Just as an example, take a look at League of Legends or Heroes of Newerth style. They aren't MMOs, but they got their own lore and graphical style. Mby a bit influenced by Warcraft, but still they at least don't look like "omg knight with 10m sword and flatface fights a red dragon" or "manga anime dude with dragonball hairstyle fights skeletons". For me thats just too much of the same. And combat in all of them looks the same.
About the existence of a game that I'm looking for - yeh, ur right, I think I just have to wait. I rly hope that at least Torchlight MMO will not be another casual bullcrap.
